Eagles vs. Commanders NFL Player Prop Bets and Picks for Sunday Night Football

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will square off in the Week 8 Sunday Night Football matchup.

Neither of these NFC East opponents has gotten off to the start it desired. Injuries have depleted the Philadelphia Eagles, and they have slipped to 2-5 on the year. The Washington Commanders have also struggled this season, holding a 1-4-1 record through the opening six games.

Looking at the odds for the Week 8 SNF matchup, the Commanders enter as six-point favorites with -270 Moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Eagles hold +220 odds to get the outright victory, with the game total set at O/U 40.5 points.

But there are plenty of ways to get involved in the action beyond backing a side or total. Let’s take a look at my top three favorite player props for the Week 8 Sunday Night Football matchup. Eagles vs. Commanders Odds

Eagles vs. Commanders NFL Player Prop Bets for Sunday Night Football

Saquon Barkley Over 46.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

Injuries have been a problem for the Eagles all season, and Saquon Barkley has not been excluded from this. The former Offensive Player of the Year missed two games due to a hamstring injury but made his return to the field last week. Barkley was clearly not 100%, but gave the Eagles offense everything he had and finished with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding a pair of receptions.

Across the season overall, Barkley has tallied 43 rush attempts for 244 yards and one touchdown. He is averaging 82.5 rushing yards in the two games in which he has tallied at least 10 carries. The three-time Pro Bowler was limited to seven rush attempts last week, but was completely off the injury report by the end of this week’s practices. He should have more in the tank after shaking off the rust last week and having additional time to get healthy.

Washington has a poor defense that ranks 31st in opponents’ points allowed and 25th in total yards conceded. Its outlook for stopping the run is even more concerning with Javon Kinlaw ruled out and Daron Payne sidelined with a season-ending injury. Jer’Zhan Newton has also been ruled out for tonight’s game. With Tanner McKee not providing much of a threat through the air, expect Philadelphia to lean on Barkley for as much as he can take. The star running back still managed to surpass 46.5 rushing yards last week despite logging just seven carries and should be in line for an expanded workload as he continues to get healthier.

Stefon Diggs Over 4.5 Receptions (+125)

Injuries have also been a factor for Stefon Diggs’ production, with both he and Jayden Daniels missing some time. But each is back on the field for this week’s matchup and will look to build off an encouraging stretch of recent play. Across the five games Diggs has appeared in, the four-time Pro Bowler has pulled in 24 receptions on 38 targets for 214 yards and four touchdowns. He has averaged 7.6 targets per game and received at least six targets in every appearance.

This is a great matchup to build on, with Philadelphia’s defense looking increasingly vulnerable in recent weeks. Across the season overall, the Eagles rank 21st in points allowed and 27th in total yards conceded. Cooper DeJean has not looked like himself in the secondary, Riq Woolen has been inconsistent in coverage, and the collective secondary ranks 26th in total passing yards allowed.

Diggs has recorded at least four receptions in every game and gone over 4.5 in three of his five appearances. This included each of his last two games, and this is a favorable matchup to build off. Count on Daniels continuing to give his star wide receiver chances and for Diggs to find places to settle in the vulnerable Eagles defense. He has already shown a strong connection with the Commanders’ passing game, and this matchup gives him another opportunity to produce.

Makai Lemon Anytime Touchdown (+320)

Philadelphia’s collection of pass-catching options remains depleted with DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks still on the sideline this week. This has paved the way for a major increase in responsibilities for the rookie, who is coming off the best performance of his young NFL career. During last week’s matchup with the Cowboys, Lemon pulled in seven receptions on eight targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. This marked the first TD of the USC product’s career.

Tanner McKee put forth one of his most effective performances to date as a starter and helped Philadelphia move the ball at a much greater rate. Lemon was a key part of this effort, and the Eagles did a much better job mixing up his route concepts and utilizing him in more diverse ways. The Eagles are also six-point underdogs for a reason in this game, and it would not be a surprise if Philadelphia is forced to play from behind throughout.

The chemistry between Lemon and McKee is clear, and this should continue with the lack of other pass-catching options. With a combination of big-play potential and responsibility to make plays in the red zone, expect Lemon to have another pathway to a touchdown this week. Count on the rookie building off his best performance of the season by reaching the end zone for the second straight week in this divisional battle. Getting +320 odds based on his role in the Eagles’ offense is great value.
