Week 7 concludes with an NFC East battle between underachieving teams on Monday Night Football. The Philadelphia Eagles have been stricken by injury at this point of the campaign and hope for a winning season is slipping away. However, they do get Saquon Barkley back for this matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, setting the running back up for a big night on the ground as the focal point of this offense.

Here are the best Saquon Barkley prop bets for Eagles vs. Cowboys on Monday Night Football in Week 7.

Best Saquon Barkley prop bet for Eagles vs. Cowboys

The Eagles’ offense has not looked good this season, or really anywhere close to it. Prior to tonight’s game, they rank 29th in per-game scoring with just 17.7 PPG, also falling 30th in EPA/play. When it comes to the rushing attack alone, they sit 27th in EPA/rush, too. That’s partially due to availability issues, though. Saquon Barkley, the team’s star halfback, missed multiple games due to injury and exited another early.

Barkley’s raw numbers won’t impress anyone. He has just 182 rushing yards across four games, failing to score a single touchdown as of yet. However, he’s tallied just 36 rush attempts, so in terms of efficiency, he’s actually producing quite well. The veteran averages 5.1 YPC which would be good for the second-best average of his career were it extrapolated to the full season. That’s impressive, especially given that Philadelphia’s offensive line has seen its fair share of bumps and bruises already, too.

Look a little further under the hood and you’ll see that Barkley has posted quality outings when he’s actually been healthy. In Week 1, he ran for 83 yards on 15 carries, then went for 82 yards on another 15 attempts in Week 3. He just left Week 2 early with a stinger, then was injured again in Week 4 with a hamstring issue that kept him out of the following two games. Now, he’s questionable to play tonight, but after a complete week of practice and a full session on Saturday, it appears he’s trending in the right direction to return against Dallas.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Barkley’s player prop bet lines are set at O/U 16.5 rush attempts, 68.5 rushing yards, 2.5 receptions and 15.5 receiving yards. He holds +100 odds for an anytime touchdown, second shortest of any player in this game. The Eagles are also a 4.5-point underdog at home with the total set at 44.5 combined points.

There are a couple of factors in Barkley’s favor tonight that make his overs worth targeting. The outlook for Philadelphia does look rather dire due to circumstances outside the team’s control – quarterback Jalen Hurts hit IR due to blood clots and wideout DeVonta Smith was also ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Tanner McKee will start under center and is a relative wild card with very little experience in a live game at the NFL level. However, these things do play well for Barkley’s outlook. Given how understaffed this offensive unit is, he should be in line for massive volume moving forward as the clear top playmaker on that side of the ball.

Now, over 16.5 rush attempts may be a slightly lofty line in the context of Barkley’s return from injury (assuming he plays), so that may be one area to avoid. Still, double-digit touches are almost assured, and he gets an ideal matchup against this Cowboys defense, too. Dallas ranks 21st in EPA/rush allowed and falls in the league’s bottom half in explosive-rush rate allowed at 12.5%. This defense has also let running backs run for 4.26 YPC and has allowed five rushing touchdowns to the position.

With few other playmakers active for the Eagles as they face one of the NFL’s softer run defenses, targeting the over on 68.5 rushing yards and an anytime touchdown for Barkley makes a lot of sense. This may not be a pretty game for Philadelphia, but the running back should be able to make something shake in this spot if he winds up active. He’s looked sharp in the two full games he played, and against a unit that falls 25th in scoring allowed with 26.5 PPG, there’s a great chance he still gets into the end zone. I do prefer the yardage prop, but both have their appeal here.

Best Bet: Saquon Barkley over 68.5 rushing yards (-114)
