Week 7 concludes with an NFC East battle between underachieving teams on Monday Night Football. The Dallas Cowboys have just two wins under their belts, but against an undermanned Philadelphia Eagles unit, there’s a good chance they can tack on another one. Javonte Williams has been a scoring machine this season, but will he be able to extend his touchdown streak against this defense?
Here are the best Javonte Williams prop bets for Cowboys vs. Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 7.
Best Javonte Williams prop bet for Cowboys vs. Eagles
Prior to last season, it seemed like Javonte Williams’ career was teetering on the brink of being over. However, a one-year prove-it deal saw him play his way back into relevance – and even stardom – in Dallas. In 16 appearances, he ran for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns, also adding 137 receiving yards and two more scores in the passing game. By the end of it, he’d earned a lucrative long-term extension with the Cowboys and solidified his spot as the team’s starter in the backfield moving forward.
This season, Williams hasn’t been quite as effective on the ground. He’s tallied 317 rushing yards in six games, averaging 52.8 per contest, down significantly from last year’s 75.1. However, he’s been more active as a receiver and has 19 grabs for 103 yards, so there’s some degree of tradeoff here in the numbers. What hasn’t declined, though, is the touchdown tally. Williams now has seven rushing touchdowns and one additional score through the air, good for eight on the year. He’s scoring at one of the league’s highest rates, which is exactly what we want to see heading into this game.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Williams’ player prop bet lines are set at O/U 63.5 rushing yards and 16.5 rush attempts, plus 2.5 receptions and 12.5 receiving yards. His -165 odds to score an anytime touchdown are the shortest of any player in this game. The Cowboys are also a 4.5-point favorite on the road with the total hovering between 43.5 and 44.5 combined points.
In years past, a date against the Eagles would’ve spelled trouble for a halfback. However, this defense isn’t what it once was. They’re allowing 103.5 rushing yards per game to the position, a figure that ranks 23rd. They do rank 11th in efficiency allowed at 3.98 YPC and fall middle-of-the-pack at 15th with 0.7 rushing touchdowns allowed per game to RBs, conceding just four in six games. Philadelphia also ranks 27th in EPA/rush allowed, but 23rd in rushing success rate and 12th in explosive-rush rate allowed.
If there’s any market to avoid here, it’s Williams’ receiving lines. The Eagles give up the 10th-fewest receptions per game to his position at just 3.8, and when it comes to yardage, the 22.8 receiving yards per game allowed to halfbacks ranks seventh best. In other words, they limit passes in the backfield better than a lot of teams. Since his receiving role is still less expansive than many other running backs, either take the unders or stay away.
However, it’s worth looking at the over on Williams’ rushing prop as well as his anytime touchdown odds. Philadelphia has given up at least 100 rushing yards in every single game this season and has conceded at least one rushing touchdown in all but one. This unit hasn’t allowed any particularly massive days on the ground since the highest rushing total against them was 132 yards by the Commanders in Week 1, but still, they’re giving up 119.3 YPG on the ground. Williams maintains a strong grasp over rushing duties in the Cowboys’ backfield and Dak Prescott is one of the NFL’s few remaining pocket passers with limited rushing upside, so watch for the running back to eclipse the line of 63.5 rushing yards in a positive matchup for just the second time this season – especially since Dallas may get an extra possession or two against a Philly offense with Tanner McKee starting under center.
Best Bet: Javonte Williams over 63.5 rushing yards (-113)
