DraftKings King of the End Zone Picks for 49ers vs. Commanders Monday Night Football Game

DraftKings King of the End Zone Picks for 49ers vs. Commanders Monday Night Football Game

By: Zach Thompson

Week 6 comes to a close with the Commanders visiting the West Coast to take on the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The 49ers have a chance to be the first team to reach 6-0 this season, remaining unbeaten alongside the Chiefs and Vikings. It should be an entertaining matchup with plenty of big-play potential, and to add even more excitement, DraftKings Sportsbook is ready to roll with another massive King of the End Zone promotion.

This week’s King of the End Zone promo will award a massive $2 million in bonus bets. If you opt in to the token and place a singles bet of at least $5 on a player in a touchdown market and he scores the longest touchdown of the night, you win a share of the $2 million in bonus bets.

In Week 1, Jaxon Smith-Njigba claimed the King of the End Zone crown, earning  $113 in bonus bets from DraftKings Sportsbook for bettors who placed their token on him. In Week 2 on Thursday Night Football, it was a long-shot winner as Joshua Palmer scored a 43-yard touchdown to earn $286 in bonus bets for his backers. Week 3 saw Kalif Raymond scoring the longest touchdown of Monday Night Football, with a $477 bonus bet credit to the bettors who selected him with their token. In Week 4, Bijan Robinson claimed the crown and secured $77 in bonus bets for the 26,158 bettors who selected him, and in Week 5, James Cook III earned the King of the End Zone honors with $147 in bonus bets for his supporters.

Who will add their name to that impressive list this week, and how many bonus bets can you claim? Let’s run down some of the top plays for Week 6’s Monday Night Football version of DraftKings King of the End Zone.

King of the End Zone — What You Need to Know

The rules of the promotion are pretty simple. After opting in, bettors will receive a token to place on a singles bet with a $5 minimum in the “TD Scorers” market. If the player with the token scores the longest touchdown of the game, you will win a share of $2 million in bonus bets. The fewer people who have their token on that player, the larger the payout will be, so it’s important to balance out the popularity of the pick with the likelihood of it hitting. Taking a longer shot could land a massive payout, while picking a more obvious choice has a more likely chance of winning, even if the bonus bet payout is smaller.

Passing touchdowns are ineligible for this promotion, so if you want to pick Brock Purdy — for example — he’ll have to run it in himself for the longest score rather than pass for the touchdown. Despite not being an individual player, D/ST is eligible to become King of the End Zone if the longest touchdown comes on a defensive or special teams play.

King of the End Zone Preview & Picks | Monday, Oct. 19

Players with the shortest odds to score a TD:

  • Christian McCaffrey (-275)
  • Mike Evans (-120)
  • George Kittle (+110)
  • Rachaad White (+115)
  • Terry McLaurin (+220)

King of the End Zone Picks for Monday, Oct. 19:

When making King of the End Zone picks, it’s important to consider players who are not only likely to score a touchdown but are also likely to score the longest touchdown of the game. Multiple touchdowns could be scored in the game, but longer touchdowns have a better chance of claiming the King of the End Zone win. It’s also important to balance the popularity of the player for the King of the End Zone tokens as well, since a user’s share of bonus bets is tied to how popular their pick was.

These three picks are my favorite balance of likelihood to score, potential to score a long touchdown, and not too much popularity.

1. Christian McCaffrey (-275 Anytime TD)

McCaffrey has the shortest odds to get into the end zone in this contest, and there is some definite strategy to choosing him with your King of the End Zone token. He may not pay out huge amounts of bonus bets, but he has the best chance at making your $5 minimum bet successful. In the last few weeks, we’ve seen a nice mix of long-shots and favorites claim the King of the End Zone crown, and CMC definitely has the potential to deliver the win on Monday Night Football.

McCaffrey has scored five touchdowns in his five games this season, all as a rusher. Four of those five touchdowns have been one-yard runs with an 11-yard run last week against the Seahawks as his longest score of the season. Historically, though, McCaffrey has produced plenty of long scores, including a 29-yard touchdown catch in the playoffs last year.

He’s a great option to consider if you’re looking for a lower-risk play with a higher implied probability of scoring for your King of the End Zone candidate this week.

2. George Kittle (+110 Anytime TD)

Kittle has gotten off to a fast start to the season even after suffering an Achilles tear in January. Not only did he recover in time for Week 1, but he also has been up to full speed and putting up strong numbers with at least four catches in each of his last four games and a total of four touchdowns during that span.

He didn’t score last week against the Seahawks, but Kittle has four touchdowns this season: three from inside the red zone and a 56-yard score against the Broncos:

Kittle could be very busy on Monday Night Football, with Mike Evans (ribs, Achilles) questionable and Deebo Samuel Sr. (hamstring) out. With both of the team’s top receivers battling injury, Kittle could get more targets from Brock Purdy, and he always brings big-play potential.

The Commanders have been a great matchup for tight ends this season, allowing seven touchdowns to the position in five games. Isaiah Likely lit them up last week for 11 catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns, and opposing tight ends have found the end zone in four of Washington’s five games this season.

3. Stefon Diggs (+235 Anytime TD)

Diggs had three touchdowns in his first two games with the Commanders, with this 20-yard score against the Cowboys his longest of the season so far.

Diggs had 31 targets through his first four games with Washington but missed Week 5 with a hamstring injury that has him questionable for Monday night’s matchup. Despite missing that game, he still leads the team with four red-zone targets.

If he’s able to return from injury, this would be the first time since Week 2 that he, Terry McLaurin, and Jayden Daniels are all on the field together. In that game, Diggs had a pair of touchdowns. He’s a little bit of a longer shot than CMC or Kittle, but if the Commanders are forced to play from behind and throw the ball a lot, he could be a great value play.

His injury status will be key to watch, and if he’s out, pivoting to Terry McLaurin or even Antonio Williams would make sense. His uncertainty will likely keep the number of bettors that back him down, leading to larger payouts if he is the King of the End Zone.
