This is such an interesting matchup.
Both these teams came into this season with Super Bowl aspirations, and both are 3-2 after five weeks. However, while the Seahawks are still regarded as one of the best teams in the NFL, the Broncos’ vibe is a little less optimistic. Bo Nix (+1700) has looked awful to begin the year, and Sean Payton already taken play-calling duties away from new OC Davis Webb. It’s not what you want to see in October.
Can Denver get back on track in a home game on Thursday Night Football? More importantly, who will score the first touchdown in this Week 6 primetime tilt? Let’s dive into the odds on the DraftKings Sportsbook and make a couple picks.

Seahawks vs. Broncos First Touchdown Scorer Picks
Jaxon Smith-Njibga First TD Scorer (+550)
Honestly, I’m surprised that Smith-Njigba’s odds are even this long. JSN enters Week 6 leading the NFL in receiving yards (583) and receiving touchdowns (7), but framing the wideout in that lens almost doesn’t do his role on the Seahawks justice. Let’s try this instead: Smith-Njigba has been responsible for 63.6% of Seattle’s aerial touchdowns through five games. He’s also the only skill position player in the league who can claim a 50.0% target share in the red zone. For some context on that last stat, only seven players even have a target share of 30% inside the 20-yard line. Smith-Njibga is in a class of his own. He’s the Seahawks No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 option in high leverage situations, and with Patrick Surtain II (ankle) injured, there’s no one on the Broncos’ roster capable of slowing him down.
Bo Nix First TD Scorer (+1700)
We don’t have a lot of data on the Broncos’ red zone tendencies, because the team simply hasn’t been that close to the end zone all that often. In fact, Denver’s registered the fourth-fewest offensive touchdowns per game through five weeks (1.8), only besting the likes of the Vikings, Dolphins and Titans. Still, there is one trend that caught my eye. With Jonah Coleman (ankle) currently on IR, there are only two players on Denver’s roster with a red zone rushing attempt this season: J.K. Dobbins (+800) and Bo Nix. The former is rightfully favored to find pay dirt, but Nix did register his 10th-career rushing touchdown back in Week 3. The former 12th-overall pick has some mobility and he’s not afraid to take a hit near the goal line. At these odds, I’ll take my chances.
