The upstart White Sox earned a 6-3 victory on Tuesday, placing them one win away from an ALDS appearance. Standing in Chicago’s way will be the experienced Astros and starting pitcher Hunter Brown. In this matchup between two of baseball’s most dangerous lineups, which players will make an impact this evening?

Sam Antonacci 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105)
Big bats Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas have garnered most of the attention in Chicago this season. However, don’t sleep on Sam Antonacci. The do-it-all outfielder is a pest, frustrating opposing pitchers atop this White Sox lineup. Through 140 games, he’s slashing .277/.370/.396 with eight homers and 20 stolen bases. That knack for working the count makes the rookie especially dangerous during the postseason, when every pitch has an added layer of importance. It’s not as if Brown (4.6 BB/9) always showcases stellar command either.
It helps that Antonacci comes into today’s contest on a tear at the plate. Over 89 plate appearances this month, he’s slashing .321/.393/.410 to go with a 132 wRC+. As an added bonus, the 23-year-old is batting .290 this season against right-handed pitchers. In comparison, he’s hitting just .227 against southpaws. The youngster will likely operate as Chicago’s leadoff hitter once again on Wednesday. That means at least four at-bats, if not five, should be in store tonight. There will be more than enough opportunities for Antonacci to make his presence felt in Game 2.
Hunter Brown 7+ Strikeouts (+107)
Speaking of Brown, he’s got plenty of pressure to deliver this evening in Houston. Fortunately for Astros fans, the right-hander is more than capable of tossing a gem. Plagued by injuries in 2026, the former All-Star remains a force on the mound when healthy. As previously mentioned, the 28-year-old does have issues at times with his command. Otherwise, he remains one of the American League’s best arms. Through 107.0 innings pitched ( starts), Brown has recorded a 3.19 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 124 strikeouts (10.4 K/9). He sits within the 81st percentile or better in xERA (3.32), xBA (.199), strikeout rate (27.5%) and ground ball rate (57.1%).
Generating whiffs is the key for Brown’s entire performance tonight. Fortunately for the Astros, this is a free-swinging White Sox lineup. The South Siders are striking out 9.21 times per game, fifth-most in the majors. Brown has delivered seven or more Ks in five of his previous six appearances. That includes a seven-strikeout performance on September 3rd against none other than Chicago. Since the start of August, he’s delivered a stellar 2.96 ERA over ten outings. Another dominant showing feels likelier than not for Houston’s ace on Wednesday.
