The MLB postseason rolls on, with four Game 2 matchups in the Wild Card Round.
For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look on Wednesday?
Ahead of today’s Major League Baseball playoff contests, here are two NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Best NRFI Prop Bets Today
| Game | Pitching Matchup |

| Red Sox vs. Yankees NRFI (-145) | Gray vs. Fried |
Phillies vs. Braves NRFI (-145)
An afternoon matinee kicks off today’s postseason action. This one features two divisional rivals battling it out for a shot at the defending champion Dodgers in the NLDS. Toeing the slab for Philadelphia will be Cristopher Sanchez, one of the game’s elite arms. Through 207.0 innings, the southpaw has notched a 2.91 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 231 strikeouts (10.0 K/9). To boot, he comes into this one sporting a solid 75.8% NRFI rate this season. Sanchez has recorded a 2.19 ERA over his previous four meetings with Atlanta. In addition, the Braves have delivered the league’s 11th-lowest OPS against left-handed pitching (.696).
On the other side, Tyler Mahle gets the nod for Atlanta. The oft-injured righty is a true difference maker when healthy. Since coming over to the Braves in early August, he’s posted a 1.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 48 strikeouts (8.0 K/9) over nine starts. That includes a combined 13.0 innings allowing just one total run against the Phillies. The visitors have been shaky at the plate, especially when playing away from home. Philadelphia is averaging a National League-worst 4.04 runs per game on the road. To make matters worse, the offense owns a mediocre 28.05% YRFI rate outside of Philly. An early outburst feels unlikely this afternoon against a red-hot hurler such as Mahle.
Red Sox vs. Yankees NRFI (-145)
Sonny Gray gets the nod against his old team in the Bronx tonight. It’s been a terrific campaign from the All-Star, among the Junior Circuit’s most consistent arms. During 169.0 innings pitched (29 starts), he’s accounted for a 2.72 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 149 strikeouts (7.9 K/9). A knack for limiting the long ball (0.9 HR/9) should do the veteran some good in a matchup with New York’s homer-happy lineup. Speaking of the Yankees, they’ve produced a mediocre 27.78% YRFI rate this season. That’s tied for eighth-worst in the majors. When these teams met back on June 28th, Gray tossed 7.1 innings of one-hit ball.
As for the Pinstripes, Max Fried will take the hill on Wednesday. Despite battling several injuries, the southpaw remains a force on the mound. During 112.2 innings of work (20 starts), he’s put up a 2.80 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 104 strikeouts (8.3 K/9). The three-time All-Star comes into today’s contest riding a seven-game NRFI streak as well. It’s no secret that Boston is struggling at the plate, scoring an MLB-worst 71 runs since September 1st. The Red Sox are responsible for a 24.69% YRFI rate, tied for last in the big leagues. There’s no good reason to assume they’ll reverse course tonight against an elite starting pitcher.
