While The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day have continued to dominate cineplexes throughout August, there have been a few smaller movies that have tried to ride their coattails at the box office. Mutiny hit theaters on August 21, adding yet another film to the long list of Jason Statham shoot ’em up flicks. So how much business did the traditional action movie reel in over its first three days on the big screen?
Here is a breakdown of how Mutiny performed at the box office this past weekend:
Mutiny Box Office
Mutiny made an estimated $7.7 million at the box office between August 21 and August 23. The last Statham vehicle, Shelter, opened to $5.5 million back in January earlier this year. He also had Working Man open to $15.5 million in March 2025 and The Beekeeper make $16.6 million when it debuted in January 2024.
According to Deadline, Mutiny made $700K in domestic Thursday night previews. That cash is technically counted as part of the film’s $2.9 million Friday gross. It proceeded to make an estimated $2.8 million on Saturday and $2.0 million on Sunday. Mutiny posted the largest domestic opening weekend by a non-sci-fi action movie so far in 2026. That isn’t a particularly prestigious club, however, since In the Grey was previously the top-ranked North American production on the list at $2.9 million. Motor City is next up at $1.7 million. Mutiny did fall short of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, however, an Hindi-language Indian film that opened to $10.0 million when it got a domestic release in March.
Looking beyond the United States and Canada, Mutiny has reeled in an additional $6.5 overseas. In total, the film grossed $14.2 million worldwide over its opening weekend. The Beekeeper enjoyed a $37.1 global million start en route to a $162.6 million finish in 2024, while Working Man opened to $30.2 million and reached $89.4 million total in 2025. Shelter opened to $13.0 million and legged out to $54.6 million. Even with Dhurandhar: The Revenge sitting at $152.9 million, Mutiny is still already one of the highest grossing non-sci-fi action films of the year worldwide. The Furious – an English-language Hong Kong action flick – grossed $41.5 million, while In the Grey finished at $27.2 million and Motor City made $2.9 million.
