Luis Arraez was removed from Saturday’s Philadelphia Phillies matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals after the third inning. The Phillies replaced the recent trade acquisition with Bryson Stott at second base, and they said Arraez is dealing with lower-body cramps.
Arraez did his part in helping to break the game open before leaving, as the Phillies already held a 7-0 lead by the time Stott took the field. The three-time batting champion extended his hitting streak to nine games after going 1-for-2 at the plate and later scoring on a single to center field by Bryan De La Cruz.
Philadelphia’s significant lead likely played into the decision to get the four-time All-Star some rest, but his status will be one to monitor moving forward regardless.
