It’s been a difficult few weeks for the Mariners (56-63), who have lost ground in a crowded American League postseason race. They’ll hope to turn things around on Tuesday against the Yankees (66-52). New York, despite its well-documented offensive struggles, is coming off of an impressive series victory over the Braves. Can the Pinstripes continue their success tonight against Seattle?
The Yankees are favorites (-124) over the Mariners; the over/under is set at eight runs. Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Tuesday’s showdown between Seattle and New York on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Mariners vs. Yankees pick, best bet today
- Yankees ML (-124): Weathers has been a better pitcher than Woo this season, especially when the latter is on the road. Ditto for New York’s lineup, which is still out-producing Seattle in its current state. There’s no convincing reason to fade the Yankees this evening at home.

Entering the season, pitching was expected to be the biggest strength for this Seattle squad. For the most part, that’s come to fruition. With that being said, it’s hard not to be a bit disappointed by Bryan Woo in 2026. The former All-Star hasn’t been as effective this season, vacillating between quality starts and disastrous outings. Much of his trouble traces back to extreme home/away splits. Woo owns a stellar 1.96 ERA at T-Mobile Park, but a dismal 6.71 ERA during 12 road starts. That’s culminated in a middling 4.31 ERA over 127.1 innings of work this season. The righty remains one of the game’s best when it comes to limiting walks (1.9 BB/9). However, he’s struggled when it comes to limiting hard-hit balls.
In most instances, a trip to the short porch at Yankee Stadium could spell trouble. That’s not quite the case tonight. New York comes into this one missing some of its best bats, including Aaron Judge (ribs), Cody Bellinger (hamstring) and Giancarlo Stanton (calf). Since July 1st, the team ranks 28th in baseball with just 116 runs scored. Trade deadline acquisitions Luis Garcia Jr. (132 wRC+) and Heliot Ramos (97 wRC+) should help going forward, along with rookie George Lombard Jr. Still, it’s fair to express some concern at the moment for this lineup. On the bright side, the Pinstripes rank second in baseball with 167 home runs. A few long balls could be all they need to pull ahead on Tuesday.
It helps that New York leads all of baseball with a 3.30 team ERA. One of the unsung heroes on this pitching staff has been Ryan Weathers. Acquired in the offseason from Miami, the 26-year-old has been a terrific back-end arm for the Yankees. Over 121.0 innings pitched (22 starts), he’s notched a 3.79 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 132 strikeouts (9.8 K/9). Weathers comes into tonight’s contest with momentum as well. He’s allowed just seven earned runs over his previous five appearances (2.20 ERA). That includes two straight scoreless outings against the Cardinals and White Sox.
If you thought the Yankees were struggling at the plate, check out their opponents tonight. The Mariners are a mess offensively, ranking 30th in runs scored (462) and 28th in OPS (.683). There is a bit of pop in this lineup, but that’s the only thing going well for them right now. Seattle has scored 24 runs over its last ten contests, second-worst in the majors during that stretch. To boot, the M’s own the league’s second-worst OPS vs. left-handed pitching (.649). A southpaw with wipeout stuff such as Weathers could give this group some problems this evening.
Best Bet: Yankees ML (-124)
Despite his name value, Woo hasn’t been great this season. That’s especially true on the road, where he’s had some of the most bipolar pitching splits in recent MLB history. New York’s depleted lineup isn’t the most intimidating, but there are still several bats capable of doing some damage. It’s a different story for the Mariners, who have been nothing short of anemic this season. Their struggles against lefties gives Weathers a significant edge tonight.
