Things can come apart in a hurry in the MLB. Going into the sixth inning against the mighty Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks starter Merrill Kelly had thrown five scoreless innings without allowing a hit. By the end of the inning he had allowed two hits, two walks, a run, and left the game with a trainer.
Cramps have been a recurring issue for the 37-year-old veteran starter, and in the grand scheme of things, a recurrence would be a best-case scenario. Arizona hasn’t yet announced what is afflicting Kelly, but we are sure to get an update before the night is out.
