During Friday’s game against the Minnesota Twins, Shea Langeliers tore the meniscus in his left knee while running the bases. After being placed on the 10-day injured list, Langeliers is set to undergo season-ending knee surgery on Tuesday.

It’s a brutal blow for the Athletics as Langeliers was slashing .263/.332/.497 with a .234 ISO. He had 23 home runs, 55 runs scored, 51 RBIs, and two stolen bases in 416 plate appearances.

Jonah Heim will likely take over catching duties for the Athletics, with Brian Serven serving as the backup. Heim has accrued 211 plate appearances this season, recording nine home runs, 21 runs, and 32 RBIs. He’s slashing .228/.280/.420 with a 6.2% walk rate, a 19% strikeout rate and a .192 ISO.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
