What happened to Shohei Ohtani? Injury updates for Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks on 7/10/26

First pitch of Friday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks is scheduled for just after 10 p.m. ET. However, one of the MLB’s brightest stars won’t be on the mound.

Shohei Ohtani was scheduled to start tonight for Los Angeles but will not make that appearance due to “continued irritation in his left knee.” However, he will still be in the lineup for the rest of the weekend as the Dodgers’ designated hitter, per the team.

Ohtani will also miss the All-Star Game next week.

The multi-time MVP has been excellent this season with an 8-2 record across 14 starts. He’s logged a career-best 1.79 ERA thus far with an 0.95 WHIP, also striking out 95 batters in his 85.2 IP. One could argue he’s having a down year at the plate, but he remains one of the best hitters in the MLB with a .290/.405/.534 slash line and a .939 OPS. Ohtani has 62 runs, 56 RBI and 20 home runs on the season in 85 games.

Overall, Los Angeles is 61-33 this year, good for first in the NL West and entire sport.
