Best MLB Prop Bets Today (July 8, 2026)
- Best Team Total: Tigers team total over 4.5 runs: Jeffrey Springs’ June collapse and a struggling Athletics bullpen make Detroit one of my favorite offenses tonight.
- Best Batter Prop: James Wood 3+ H/R/RBI: Wood continues to dominate right-handed pitching at home and gets a favorable matchup against Spencer Arrighetti.
- Best Strikeout Prop: Jake Bennett over 4.5 strikeouts: Bennett faces a White Sox lineup that continues to strike out at one of the highest rates against left-handed pitching.

Detroit Tigers Team Total Over 4.5 Runs
Odds: -125 | Opponent: Athletics
The Tigers have a great opportunity to put up some runs tonight, as they’ll face Jeffrey Springs and the Athletics. Springs is coming off a horrendous month of June that saw him post an ERA of 10 through 27 innings, allowing 32 runs (30 earned) on 27 hits, including 12 home runs. This gave him a .455 wOBA with an 8.64 FIP and a 4.00 HR/9. Springs allowed at least three earned runs in every start in June, making it six straight starts. Righties have really hit Springs hard this season, tagging him for a .374 wOBA with a 6.29 FIP and 18 of the 24 home runs he’s allowed.
Once Springs departs he’ll turn the ball over to a struggling Athletics bullpen. Over the past week, they’ve combined for a 5.96 ERA with a 6.50 xERA and a 6.87 FIP over their last 22.2 innings. They’ve also been allowing the ball to fly out of the ballpark, with a 2.3 HR/9 over that span. The Tigers should be in a great position to put up some runs tonight.
James Wood 3+ H/R/RBI
Odds: +123 | Opponent: Houston Astros
I’m taking an alternate total for Wood’s H/R/RBI market tonight, as I love this matchup he’s in against Spencer Arrighetti. The Astros starter has been worse than it looks, as his 3.81 ERA comes with a 4.72 xERA and a 4.64 FIP. Lefties have been the sore spot, especially on the road. They’ve tagged him for a .364 wOBA with a 6.49 FIP. Wood continues to crush right-handed pitching at home, posting a .457 wOBA with a .344 ISO and 12 of the 25 home runs he’s hit. Hitting at the top of the Nationals lineup, he should have a plethora of opportunities to record 3+ H/R/RBI against Arrighetti and the Astros.

Jake Bennett Over 4.5 Strikeouts
Odds: +108 | Opponent: Chicago White Sox
I don’t think Bennett is priced correctly in this matchup. On the season, he’s made only seven starts but the majority of them have been against teams that are tough to strikeout. That’s why it comes as no surprise in matchups against teams with strikeout upside, he’s blown past his 4.5 total set for tonight. Bennett recorded nine against the Rockies, six against the Angels and then five against the Blue Jays. The White Sox provide plenty of strikeout upside, as tonight’s expected lineup has a 27% K% against lefties. That’s a huge number. I’m taking Bennett to record at least five strikeouts tonight.
