UPDATE: Early left the game due to elbow discomfort.
Red Sox starting pitcher Connelly Early exited Tuesday’s game against the Nationals after 4.0 innings and 61 pitches. The reason for his departure is currently unknown.
Early held Washington scoreless in four frames, allowing three hits while striking out five. Danny Coulombe replaced him in the fifth inning.
