Bosnia-Herzegovina Defeats Qatar 3-1: Match Recap
Bosnia-Herzegovina defeated Qatar 3-1 in Group B play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday at Seattle Stadium, with goals from Kerim Alajbegovic, an Abunada own goal, and a late Ermin Mahmic strike to potentially send the Bosnians through to the knockout round.
Alajbegovic broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, finishing with his right foot to put Bosnia ahead. Five minutes later the lead was doubled when Mahmoud Abunada turned the ball into his own net to make it 2-0. Qatar pulled one back just before halftime through Hassan Al-Haydos, setting up a tense second period.
Bosnia managed the match well after the break and put the result to bed in the 80th minute when Mahmic drove home a right-footed finish to restore the two-goal cushion. Ahmed Fathy had picked up a yellow card for Qatar two minutes earlier for a late challenge.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is in a fantastic position to advance to the knockout stage with four points, while Qatar exit the tournament with just one point from their three group matches. A hard-fought result for the Bosnians, who did enough when it mattered most.

Switzerland Defeats Canada 2-1: Match Recap
Switzerland defeated Canada 2-1 in Group B play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday in Vancouver, with Rubén Vargas and Johan Manzambi scoring in a dominant second-half stretch before Promise David’s volley gave the Canadians a late consolation.
The first half was largely uneventful, with Embolo’s one-on-one chance proving the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock. The match came to life almost immediately after the restart. Vargas struck just 39 seconds into the second half to put Switzerland ahead, and Manzambi doubled the advantage in the 57th minute after sloppy defending gifted the Swiss a second.
Canada responded with one of the moments of the tournament. Promise David, freshly introduced as a substitute, met the ball and thundered a volley into the net in the 76th minute to pull one back and set up a nervy finish. Liam Millar was booked in the 87th minute as Canada pushed for an equalizer, but Switzerland held firm.
The result sends Switzerland through as Group B winners with seven points. Canada advance as well with four points, though the missed opportunity to claim top spot will sting heading into the Knockout Stage.
