Arizona Diamondbacks Team Total Over 4.5 Runs

Whenever the Diamondbacks are facing a lefty, it earns my attention. Tonight’s expected lineup has some of the best numbers against lefties in the league with a .369 wOBA, a .217 ISO and just a 12% K%. Tonight, they’ll face Connor Prielipp who has been struggling lately. Over his last five starts, he’s allowed at least four runs in four of those games. Prielipp has three main pitches in his arsenal, a four-seam, slider and curveball. His four-seam, which he’s throwing 30% of the time, is his weakest pitch. Opposing hitters have tagged it for a .537 wOBA with a .348 ISO and a 41% hard-hit rate. As you’d likely expect, the D-Backs hit this pitch well with a combined .351 wOBA and a .185 ISO.
Once Prielipp departs, he’ll give way to a Twins bullpen, who over the past two weeks have been one of the worst in the league. Through 40 innings, they have a 6.98 ERA with a 5.72 FIP and a 2.4 HR/9. With all this in mind, I really like the Diamondbacks to go over their 4.5 team total tonight.
Jo Adell 2+ Total Bases
Odds: -110 | Opponent: Athletics
Another great day for hitting in Sacramento, with temperatures in the high 70s and winds blowing out around 11 mph. Someone like Jeffrey Springs, however, isn’t all that thrilled about the news. He’s allowing a 45% fly ball rate and a 36% hard-hit rate on the year, so this weather isn’t going to help his cause. As you’d imagine, his home numbers are also poor, posting a .364 wOBA with 12 of the 19 home runs he’s allowed. With these types of numbers, I’m looking toward Adell to record 2+ total bases tonight. His power hasn’t been what we saw last year but he’s still hitting lefties extremely well. Adell has a .369 wOBA with a .235 ISO against lefties with six of his 10 home runs.

Trey Gibson Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
Odds: +100 | Opponent: Los Angeles Dodgers
Gibson to go at least five innings tonight feels like wishful thinking. He’s made four starts this season and has gone at least five innings in only one of them, which was against the Tampa Bay Rays. On the season, he owns a 5.91 ERA with an xERA of 6.62 and a 6.37 FIP. He doesn’t strike out hitters with a K/9 of 5 and he puts a lot of traffic on the bases with a 5.4 BB/9. Even with inducing ground balls on more than half of his batted ball events, both side of the plate have tagged him for an overall wOBA of .353. Going into Dodger Stadium tonight, I’m expecting an early exit for the Orioles starter.
