What happened to Corey Seager? Injury updates for Rangers shortstop on 6/14/26

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager was scratched from Sunday night’s lineup against the Boston Red Sox due to concussion-like symptoms.

Seager had already been day-to-day after a home-plate collision earlier in the week. Manager Skip Schumaker previously said Seager was dealing with soreness in his ribs and jaw after the collision, and Sunday’s late scratch adds a more concerning layer to the issue.

Ezequiel Duran is listed at shortstop for Texas, with Wyatt Langford, Josh Jung, Brandon Nimmo, Duran, Jake Burger, Justin Foscue, Cody Freeman, Kyle Higashioka, and Alejandro Osuna forming the Rangers’ batting order. The game is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET at Fenway Park.

The timing is brutal for a Rangers lineup already missing Evan Carter, who recently landed on the injured list with an oblique strain. Michael Helman is also out with hand fractures, leaving Texas short on depth as it tries to avoid a three-game sweep in Boston.
