What happened to Jameson Taillon? Injury updates for Cubs vs. Giants on Sunday 6/07/26

Chicago Cubs starter Jameson Taillon exited Sunday night’s game against the San Francisco Giants with a trainer after an apparent injury concern, cutting short his start at Wrigley Field after walking a batter to begin the second inning.

The Cubs have not announced a formal diagnosis at the time of this writing, so the immediate concern is the uncertainty. Taillon left during a nationally televised Sunday Night Baseball matchup, with Chicago already trying to stabilize a rotation spot that has come with some volatility this season.

Taillon entered the night 2-5 with a 5.13 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 57 strikeouts across 66 2/3 innings. The surface numbers had already been uneven, and the home-run damage had become the loudest issue. He had allowed 20 homers entering Sunday, the most in the MLB, after giving Chicago 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball in his previous start against the Athletics.
