Through two months of the season, it’s the White Sox (32-28) that have taken the American League by storm. After years of ineptitude, Chicago has finally managed to roster an exciting, competitive young squad. Still, this group has a long way to go if they want to reach the postseason. Taking care of business against the rival Twins (28-33) would give the South Siders a major boost. Minnesota, just 1.5 games out of a wild card spot, has plenty to play for as well.
The White Sox are favorites (-126) over the Twins, with the over/under set at eight runs. Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Tuesday’s showdown between Chicago and Minnesota on DraftKings Sportsbook.
White Sox vs. Twins pick, best bet
White Sox vs. Twins prediction, preview
For all the good vibes for Chicago, the team was dealt a major blow last week. Offseason pickup Munetaka Murakami (hamstring) was placed on the injured list. The Japanese import is tied for second in the majors with 20 home runs this season. Still, there’s more than enough firepower to make up for the slugger’s absence. Six other White Sox regulars have a wRC+ of at least 100. That includes infielders Miguel Vargas (143 wRC+), Colson Montgomery (122 wRC+) and Sam Antonacci (114 wRC+). Under the radar contributors such as Randal Grichuk (157 wRC+) and Tristan Peters (119 wRC+) have helped as well. Chicago ranks ninth in runs scored (281) and third in home runs (83).
Keeping the Sox in check has proven to be a challenge for most starters this season. Connor Prielipp is no exception; the righty gave up six earned runs when these teams met last week. On the whole, it’s been a mediocre 2026 campaign for the rookie. Through seven starts, he’s recorded a 5.13 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 35 strikeouts (9.5 K/9). A large part of the 25-year-old’s struggles come down to command. Prielipp has produced a lackluster 4.1 walks per nine innings ratio. If Chicago’s batters are patient, as they were last week, there should be a handful of free passes tonight.
It’s not as if the White Sox have been completely carried by their offense. Davis Martin has enjoyed a breakout season, looking the part of a legitimate ace. Over 67.2 innings pitched, the right-hander owns a 2.00 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 71 strikeouts (9.4 K/9). He’s allowed one earned run or fewer in eight of 11 starts so far. That includes a six-inning, one-run gem on May 28th vs. Minnesota. It’s fair to wonder if the 29-year-old’s rise from decent arm to All-Star is a mirage. However, his numbers don’t look like a fluke. Martin ranks within the top 80th percentile in chase rate (36.1%), strikeout rate (27.0%) and walk rate (5.3%).
The Twins, despite a lack of household names, have been solid on offense this season. They currently rank sixth in runs scored (284), 14th in home runs (65), and 15th in OPS (.703). Granted, none of those season-long numbers are eye-popping. Minnesota’s lineup is also top heavy; just two active regulars (Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach) have a wRC+ above 110. A recent injury to Ryan Jeffers (hand) has hurt this group as well. Martin has recorded a 2.45 ERA over his previous four meetings with the Twins.
Best Bet: White Sox ML (-126)
Even without Murakami, Chicago wields the deeper, more dangerous offense in this one. Prielipp could turn into a decent arm one day, but he’s a difficult player to back due to his lack of control. Martin is the exact opposite, providing a steady presence on the mound for these young South Siders. Equipped with the superior lineup and starting pitcher, back the White Sox on the moneyline tonight.
