Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer exited Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers early, possibly due to an injury.
The veteran hurler threw just 36 pitches through two innings on Monday night before exiting the game. There is no official update on his status as of this time. It is worth noting that there is an illness spreading through the Blue Jays’ clubhouse, per Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi. Perhaps Scherzer’s exit is related to that issue.
It’s not as though Scherzer was shelled to lead to an early exit from the game. He allowed just two hits, one of which was a home run. While he allowed two earned runs, he did strike out two batters and walk one as well. The Blue Jays were down just 2-1 at the time he left.
Toronto is only 4-5 to start the new season after falling short in the World Series last year. The team will play two more games against the Dodgers during this series.
