What happened to Cade Horton? Live injury updates for Guardians vs. Cubs on 4/03/26

UPDATE: Per the Cubs and Marquee Sports Network’s Taylor McGregor, Horton left the game due to right forearm discomfort.

The next step, almost certainly, is imaging. We’ll likely hear more from Chicago skipper Craig Counsell after the game, but it’ll all be speculation until they get that right forearm under some lights.

Meanwhile, the Cubs will be left to play under the stadium lights in Cleveland with the status of their ace uncertain—an unfortunately-familiar feeling for fans of the North Siders. Last year around this time, Justin Steele went down for the year.

Fingers crossed for this young MLB ace and his major-market Chicago team’s season.

In the bottom of the second inning of today’s game between the Guardians and the Cubs, second-year Chicago phenom Cade Horton exited the game after appearing to show discomfort on a 1-1 pitch in the bottom of the second.

He’d only thrown sixteen pitches before the pitch that sent him to the clubhouse. And to say an extended absence for Horton would be an early dagger to the Cubs is an understatement; Horton was slated to be their ace this year while former-ace Justin Steele recovers from his injury.

Stay tuned with DK Network for the latest injury updates; we’ll provide more as we hear more from the team.
