What happened to Alejandro Kirk? Live injury updates for Blue Jays vs. White Sox on 4/3/26

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk exited Friday’s game against the Chicago White Sox due to injury.

At the time of the injury during the bottom of the 10th inning, Kirk was behind the plate catching. A hitter sent a foul ball off the bat and the ball directly impacted Kirk’s glove hand. He took his glove off to inspect it immediately after and left the game with a trainer after the play.

Kirk was 1-for-4 during today’s game with an RBI on his one knock. Tyler Heieneman took over at catcher for the Jays once Kirk exited.

While he’s only 2-for-16 so far in 2026, the 27-year-old is coming off one of the best seasons of his career last year. In 2025, he slashed .282/.348/.421 with 76 RBI and 15 home runs as a mainstay behind the plate for Toronto.
