After more than two years of waiting, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 is finally back. The Godzilla and King Kong spinoff series from Legendary’s Monsterverse came back with a bang in the season premiere, setting the stage for a destructive storyline ahead.

When does Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, episode 2 come out?
Like Severence, Ted Lasso, The Studio and most other major Apple TV series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is releasing one episode a week.
Season 2, episode 2 will drop on Apple TV on Thursday, March 5 at 9 p.m. ET. The episode, which is titled “Resonance,” will have a runtime around 53 minutes. There will be 10 episodes in total this season, wrapping up with the finale on April 30.

Who will show up in season 2, episode 2?
Most of the major players from season 1 are back for season 2, although Mirelly Taylor’s Natalia Verdugo died in the season premiere. Dominique Tipper’s Brenda Holland seems to have taken off and left the main plot, as well. Here is a look at who is expected to appear in season 2, episode 2:

While we got bits of the flashback timeline throughout the entirety of season 1, we don’t know how much more of it we will see in season 2. There are still two years between the group’s arrival in Chile and Keiko falling into Amis Mundi, though, so the writers do have a bit of wiggle room to work with.
What to expect in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2, episode 2
Lee Shaw is back in the real world after a slightly-extended stay in Axis Mundi. The cost that it took to bring him back was pretty steep, though. Refusing to heed any warning, Cate broke out of the Monarch’s deep-sea Outpost 18 and convinced Kentaro, Hiroshi and May to go with her back to Skull Island and save Shaw. They were able to re-open the portal to Axis Mundi and send him the shuttle, successfully getting him home amid a battle with a Scarab.
Keiko spotted one of the Scarabs in the security footage of King Kong’s attack on the Monarch-Apex research site. It was the same type of animal that she, Shaw and Bill Randa came across in Chile back in 1957. While we don’t yet know how that storyline plays out, Keiko knew enough about the Scarab to chase down her son and grandchildren on Skull Island. She didn’t make it back to the research site quick enough, however, and Titan X wound up following Shaw through the portal that Cate opened.
Kong destroyed the portal and tried to chase down Titan X, but it escaped into the ocean. The crew – down Verdugo but up Shaw – got off of Skull Island on helicopters, although Outpost 18 could now be in danger.
Amber Midthunder is confirmed to be joining the cast this season, but her new character could show up in either the 1957 or 2017 timeline.

Yes, both Godzilla and King Kong will show up this season. Godzilla was a major player throughout season 1, while Kong made a cameo in the season finale. Kong got a lot of play in the season 2 premiere, but we don’t know if he will return in future episodes.
Will there be another season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters?
Apple TV has yet to announce a third season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. However, the streamer did greenlight a spinoff show following the younger version of Lee Shaw, played by Wyatt Russell, in late 2025. Production is reportedly scheduled to start in summer 2026 in Prague, per Nexus Point News.
