Fallout is back on Amazon Prime Video, with season 2 premiering earlier this month. While the adaptation of the blockbuster video game franchise will continue into the New Year, the season will have one more episode hit the airwaves before the ball drops.
If you want to keep up with Fallout as the calendar flips to 2026, here is everything you need to know heading into season 2, episode 3:
When does Fallout S2E3 come out?
After dropping all eight episodes of season 1 at once, Prime Video has pivoted to weekly releases for season 2. And despite routinely leaning on three-episode premieres for The Boys, Gen V, Invincible and their other blockbuster shows, Prime Video went with a one-episode premiere for Fallout season 2.
Season 2, episode 3 will drop on Wednesday, December 31 at 3 a.m. ET. The episode will likely have a runtime of around one hour.

What to expect in Fallout S2E3
Out in the Mojave Wasteland, Lucy ditched The Ghoul after he got stabbed by a radscorpion in favor of helping a wounded woman home. After the woman warned Lucy from continuing on her journey to Las Vegas, they were captured by a faction of Caesar’s Legion. Lucy and The Ghoul are bound to reunite, but it may take a bit for the former to escape the clutches of the Roman-themed, anti-New California Republic group.
Maximus finally popped up in episode 2 after being absent from the season premiere. He seemed more committed to Elder Quintus than ever, especially after we were given the added context of his childhood in Shady Sands before Hank nuked it. Quintus and Dane are seemingly acting as the devil and the angel on Maximus’ shoulders, with the former trying to rope him into a civil war and the latter trying to break him free. Quintus and a few other elders agreed to rebel against the Commonwealth, but Paladin Harkness crashed their meeting at Area 51 as a Commonwealth representative. The lookahead to episode 3 shows Harkness and Maximus talking about the prospects of an uprising within the Brotherhood, so it doesn’t seem like his presence will cause an immediate shootout between factions.
We also didn’t get any pre-war flashbacks in episode 2, although the timeline should make a return in episode 3. Cooper is still on a crash course with House, who may have answers about the technology that Hank is still trying to perfect over 200 years later. VaultTech’s plan to control Vaults 31, 32 and 33, meanwhile, could be falling apart after Norm destroyed Bud’s brain and unfroze all of his other junior executives in waiting. They successfully escaped Vault 31 and made it to the surface, but Betty and Stephanie still have Vaults 32 and 33 under their control.
