When Does the ‘Gen V’ Season 2 Finale Drop on Prime Video?

Updated:

By: Sam Connon

Gen V season 2 is coming to a close, with just one episode remaining in season 2. The finale has to do more than just wrap up an eight-episode arc, though, with season 5 of the Boys looming large.

As you carve out time to watch Gen V this week, here is everything you need to know in the lead-up to season 2, episode 8.

When does Gen V S2E8 come out?

Episode 8 of season 2 of Gen V will be released on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service on Wednesday, October 22.

The final episode, titled “Trojan,” is expected to have a runtime around 46 minutes. That includes the previously on and end credits, which typically account for four of those minutes.

(Warning: Spoilers for The Boys and Gen V Season 2, Episodes 1–7 ahead).

Who will show up in this episode?

The lines between Gen V and The Boys have been blurred since the start, but the crossover is only getting more concrete. Here is the unofficial cast list for season 2, episode 8:

  • Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau
  • Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer, a.k.a. Little Cricket
  • Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap
  • London Thor/Derek Duk as Jordan Li
  • Asa Germann as Sam Riordan
  • Keeya King as Annabeth Moreau
  • Stephen Kalyn as Greg
  • Sean Patrick Thomas as Polarity
  • Ethan Slater as Thomas Godolkin
  • Susan Heyward as Sister Sage
  • Hamish Linklater as Doug Brightbill, a.k.a. Dean Cipher

Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson in season 1, died following a motorcycle accident in March 2024. His character’s death was written into the plot of the show, and the role was not recast.

It remains to be seen if Erin Moriarty’s Starlight, Chace Crawford’s The Deep, Valorie Curry’s Firecracker or Giancarlo Esposito’s Stan Edgar will make additional cameo appearances in the season finale. Antony Starr’s Homelander showed up at the end of season 1, so don’t rule out more cliffhanger cameos.

What to expect in Gen V S2E8

In episode 7, Jordan, Emma, Sam and Annabeth left Stan Edgar’s bunker to track down Marie after she snuck out in the middle of the night. Marie and Cate got to Cipher’s house, but both he and Thomas Godolkin were gone. Polarity was there, though, and he agreed to team up with Marie and Cate to find Cipher and Godolkin. Emma got Sam and Greg to help her find Marie, while Jordan found her thanks to Annabeth’s precognitive powers. They tried to stop Marie from fighting Cipher, but she controlled the blood in their bodies and went off with Cate and Polarity anyways.

Polarity found Cipher alone in the training room, only for the dean to control Jordan, Sam and Greg, forcing them to defend him. Meanwhile, Marie tracked down Godolkin and healed him. At the same time, Polarity blasted Cipher with magnetic waves to break up his mental connection with the kids. As it turned out, Godolkin was the one with puppet powers all along. Dean Cipher was actually a random guy named Doug Brightbill who had been possessed by Godolkin – a real “Ralph Bohner” situation, for any WandaVision fans out there.

Godolkin, using Brightbill as his avatar, teamed up with Sister Sage to train Marie and trick her into healing him. The school’s founder escaped to campus, looking to “cull the herd” and only keep the most powerful supes around.

There is not an official synopsis for season 2, episode 8 of Gen V publicly listed yet.

How does Gen V fit into The Boys universe?

Gen V season 1 ended with Homelander showing up to stop Cate and Sam’s attack on campus. But when Marie blew up Cate’s arm to save Jordan from getting mind controlled, Homelander accused her attacking her own kind. While Marie, Emma, Andre and Jordan woke up in Elmira, Vought positioned Cate and Sam as the real heroes.

The supe-targeting virus discovered during Gen V season 1 played an integral part in The Boys season 4. Vice President-elect Victoria Neuman had Dr. Sameer Shah running tests with it, but The Boys used the last remaining sample to escape from deadly farm animals. Butcher kidnapped Sameer and forced him to recreate the virus, then took out Neuman to take her blood-controlling powers off the board. Little does he know that Marie exists, boasting a very similar power set – and now some loyalty to Edgar, too.

Meanwhile, the new President pledged allegiance to Homelander and declared martial law. Vought and The Seven, with Cate and Sam’s help, rounded up The Boys and their allies. Starlight and Butcher – who has the new virus – are the only ones who escape.

Gen V season 2 takes place after The Boys season 4. The pro-supe, anti-human movement spills over into Gen V, making it complicated for the so-called Guardians of Godolkin to rise up against Vought. At the same time, Marie is apparently cut from the same cloth as Homelander, so her powers could play a major role in how the main show concludes in 2026.
