Tonight, one of the most significant rivalries in boxing history continues with a second fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn. Eubank Jr. defeated Benn by unanimous decision in their first fight in April. This feud originated with their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, who fought in 1990 and 1993.
Here is my best bet for Saturday’s big boxing matchup between Eubank Jr. and Benn.
Chris Eubank Moneyline (-160)
Conor Benn spent the 23 fights of his boxing career competing at 145-150 pounds. But he moved up to 160 pounds to take on his biggest rival, Eubank. Before Benn suffered his first loss to Eubank, he won the first 23 bouts of his career. Although Benn had moments against Eubank, he didn’t do enough throughout the contest to win the fight. Eubank landed more total punches (367 vs. 215), jabs (140 vs. 35), and power punches (227 vs. 180) in their first bout.
Benn is three inches shorter than Eubank, and it was noticeable in their first contest. At Welterweight, Benn excelled with his fast-paced style, with a complete game. But at Middleweight, it doesn’t seem like Benn possesses enough power to hurt opponents.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Eubank Jr. is a -160 favorite with Benn being a +125 underdog. Eubank’s defense for most of the first fight was excellent, as Benn only landed 36.3 percent of his total punches and 39.5 percent of his power punches. Eubank Jr. is a former IBF Champion, and at 36 years old, a second victory over Benn is needed in order to earn another title opportunity. Eubank missed weight in the first fight and wasn’t as serious before, but that has changed. We have seen a much more focused Chris Eubank Jr. leading up to their rematch, which should bode well for him.
