Best Bets for Seattle Mariners at New York Mets on Sunday 8/17/25

By: Zach Thompson

As the final game of MLB Players’ Weekend, the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets clash in the MLB Little League Classic on Sunday Night Baseball. The two second-place teams are each chasing playoff spots and have split the first two games of this series, which took place at Citi Field, before moving to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the finale of the series. Let’s dive into the matchup and pick out some Mariners-Mets best bets from the many markets available on DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Mariners won Game 1 on Friday, 11-9, but the Mets bounced back with a 3-1 win behind Nolan McLean’s MLB debut. The Mariners are 1 1/2 games behind the Astros in the AL West, while the Mets have dropped back to 5 1/2 games behind the Phillies in the NL East.

On Sunday, the Mariners are -126 favorites as they give the ball to righty George Kirby to take on Clay Holmes in the series finale. The run line is 8.5 runs for Sunday night’s matchup.

Check out all the options available on DraftKings Sportsbook, and here is a look at my best bets for Mariners vs. Mets on Sunday night.

Best Bets for Mariners at Mets on 8/17/25 on DraftKings Sportsbook

George Kirby over 5.5 strikeouts thrown (+115)

I highlighted Kirby’s “to record a win” odds in my starting pitcher prop bets, and in this spot, I’m looking at his strikeout props against the Mets. The Mets are typically pretty good at strikeout suppression, but Kirby’s recent momentum should help him get over this strikeout line.

Kirby has 90 strikeouts in 85 innings over his 15 games this year. He’s averaged 6.0 strikeouts per game this year and has gone over this strikeout line in six of his last seven games.

The 27-year-old has a 26.3% K% on the year, and has been even better on the road with a 29.1% K% away from T-Mobile Park.

Even though the Mets have a low strikeout rate on the season, they should be a decent strikeout matchup for Kirby. The Mets have the 11th-highest K% in the majors over the last 30 days and in the last two weeks.

Juan Soto 3+ Hits + Runs + RBI (+150)

Kirby is 8-5 in his 15 starts this year, but lefties have hit .254 against him with a .314 wOBA, compared to righties who have hit only .193 with a .230 wOBA. If you’re looking for Mets player props, it makes sense to target lefties like Soto.

Over his last 14 games, Soto has 15 hits, 12 runs and nine RBI. He has a total of 36 HRR (hits + runs + RBI) over that span for an average of 2.6 HRR per game. Soto has gone over this HRR line in six of his last nine games.

Soto is hitting .300 over his last 11 games with a 62.1% hard-hit rate, a 20.7 barrel rate, and an average exit velocity of 96.4 miles per hour.

If you want a longer-odds pick, you can play Soto to hit a homer at +340. A homer is one way to produce 3+ HRR with a home run, but there are multiple paths to victory if he keeps hitting the ball so well in this spot against Kirby.

Julio Rodriguez 4+ Total Bases (+310)

I highlighted Rodriguez to hit a home run in my home run props, and this is a slightly different version that also pays out if he gets other hits that add up to at least four total bases.

He had two doubles on Friday, which was also four total bases, even without a home run. He finished with at least four total bases in three straight games and in six of his previous 11 before going 0-for-4 on Saturday.

He should be in a good spot to bounce back against Clay Holmes, since righties like Rodriguez are hitting .270 against Holmes with a .311 wOBA. Rodriguez getting four total bases is a long shot play, but he has a chance to shine in Sunday night’s big spotlight.
