Lane Thomas exited Friday’s game in the sixth inning due to mild plantar fasciiatis symptoms.
Johnathan Rodriguez was the substitute.
Prior to exiting, Thomas went 0-for-2.
It’s been a tough season for Thomas, as he’s only played in 38 games due to injury. In 140 plate appearances, Thomas was slashing .163/.250/.276 with a .114 ISO. The strikeout rate was 31.4%. It’s a far cry from the production in the last two seasons when he produced 28 home runs, 101 runs, 86 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 2023, then followed that up with 15 home runs, 65 runs, 63 RBI and 32 stolen bases last season. The strikeout rates were in the 25% range while the ISO was .201 and .163.
Rodriguez has appeared in 14 games, racking up 37 plate appearances. He has a total of 77 MLB plate appearances in his career and has a career 33.8% strikeout rate and .077 ISO.
