UPDATE: Springer is fine and should be able to play on Tuesday.

In the bottom of the sixth inning of Monday’s game against the New York Yankees, George Springer suffered a head injury after sliding into the knee of Jazz Chisholm Jr. at third base.

Andres Gimenez was the substitute and will man second base while Davis Schneider moves to left field and Nathan Lukes goes to right.

Prior to exiting, Springer went 0-for-2 with a walk.

Springer has been playing left field, right field and DH’ing while batting fourth or fifth in the lineup. In 302 plate appearances, he’s slashing .265/.360/.462 with a .198 ISO. In the prior two seasons, the ISO was .150 and .147. Springer has produced 11 home runs, 42 runs, 40 RBI and nine stolen bases. If he’s out for an extended period of time, it would be a big blow for the Blue Jays offense.
