Corbin Carroll was removed from the June 18th game against the Toronto Blue Jays after getting hit on the hand by a pitch in the eighth inning. He subsequently missed the next five games.
On Monday, Torey Lovullo said that Carroll has a “chip fracture” in his left wrist and will be placed on the 15-day injured list.
It’s a huge blow for the Diamondbacks’ offense, as Carroll was batting leadoff or second in the order and had produced 20 home runs, 57 runs, 44 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 323 plate appearances. The ISO was a career-high .318.
Over the last five days, Alex Thomas and Tim Tawa have manned centerfield on defense while Ketel Marte and Geraldo Perdomo have been batting first and second in the order.
