Aaron Judge will drive in an RBI tonight against David Peterson at the very least, and the even-money odds here make it the most valuable on Judge’s board. The reigning MVP has been a machine at the plate, slashing .402 with 15 home runs and 41 RBIs. With Peterson’s lack of command—he allows a 51.9% hard-hit rate this season—Judge’s power is set to shine. And bludgeon. The Yankees slugger bruises lefties at a 33.3% hard-hit rate this year. Peterson struggles to limit hard contact against the entire MLB field; that means the stage is set for Judge—top of food chain, you see—to hit one hard enough that it’ll somehow notch an RBI.
Peterson’s xERA of 4.41 and his 79.8% strand rate indicate that his current luck with runners on base won’t last. He’s been hard-hit 56% of the time in his last three starts, which only fuels Judge’s chances to cash, here. Expect the Hall of Fame bat to come through for the Yankees in this pivotal matchup. Judge ranks first in the MLB in OBP (.496), and his .287 ISO is both prodigious and monstrous.
