Saturday’s big boxing event features an Undisputed Super Middleweight bout between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. William Scull. Can Canelo become a two-time Undisputed 168-pound Champion, or will Scull shock the world and deliver one of the biggest upsets in boxing history?
The main card is set to air at 7:00 p.m. ET, with the ringwalks for the main event expected to begin at 11:00 p.m. ET. Here are my two best bets for Saturday’s boxing card headlined by Canelo vs. Scull.
Canelo Alvarez by Decision or Technical Decision (+160)
Since Canelo lost to Dmitrii Bivol in May 2022, he hasn’t displayed his iconic killer instinct, which helped him become the biggest star in boxing. Canelo has 39 knockouts out of 62 victories, but he has won his previous five fights by decision. The last knockout win of Canelo’s career came in November 2021 against Caleb Plant.
And although the odds may tell you one thing, the opposite is true in the ring. Because Canelo is a -3000 favorite against William Scull on DraftKings Sportsbook, Scull is confident and feels ready to take down boxing’s biggest star. The pride of Cuba and Germany, Scull, is the IBF Super Middleweight Champion and has an undefeated record of 23-0. Yes, Canelo has 66 career fights, 43 more than Scull, but his big-fight experience might be the difference.
Turki Al-Sheikh has significant plans to host an event in September headlined by former Undisputed Welterweight Champion Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez. But Canelo needs to get past Scull to compete in one of the biggest fights in boxing history. At 168 pounds, Canelo is used to being the smaller fighter, and that remains true on Saturday, as Scull is four inches taller and has a six-inch longer standing reach.
With all that said, I still believe that Canelo gets the job done, but until he can get opponents out of there, I’m riding with him to win by Decision or Technical Decision on DraftKings Sportsbook at +160.
Martin Bakole by KO/TKO/DQ (-165)
Martin Bakole returns a little more than two months after being knocked out by Joseph Parker in February 2025. Before that, Bakole won 10 straight fights, with eight coming by knockout. Now Bakole will face Efe Ajagba, who is 20-1 in his boxing career. Both fighters are 6’6″, but Ajagba has a three-inch reach advantage.
Even though Ajagba is an excellent all-around fighter, the difference in this bout is Bakole’s game-changing power. He has one punch power, and when Bakole had a whole camp, opponents struggled to match his heavy punches. Bakole is a -380 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, but the better value is to get Bakole to win this fight by KO/TKO/DQ at -165.
