MLB Prop Bets for Wednesday, April 15, 2025

Mitchell Parker under 2.5 earned runs allowed -115

Mitchell Parker has been fantastic to open the season. Through 18 1/3 innings, he’s allowed five runs (four earned) on 14 hits with 10 strikeouts, giving him a 1.96 ERA (xERA of 3.47) and a 3.40 FIP. It hasn’t been an easy schedule either, facing the Phillies, Diamondbacks, and Marlins. I like his matchup tonight against the Pirates, who in the early going have not hit well against lefties. They’ll enter this game hitting a combined .200/.268/.288 with a .251 wOBA and a 57 wRC+. Parker has been excellent at minimizing hard contact (26%) while inducing ground balls at a rate of 50%. With the Pirates’ struggles and lack of power, I believe Parker will find success once again.

If you’re looking for a plus-money bet, consider taking Mitchell to record a win at +145. The Nationals have hit lefties well in the early going, with a .368 wOBA.

Boston Red Sox Team Total Bases over 13.5 -115

The Red Sox offense has already been extremely up and down this season. However, I like the matchup they have tonight against Rays starter Zack Littell. He’s only thrown 17 innings but has somehow already allowed five home runs, which is tied for the second-most in the league. As you’d imagine, his overall numbers aren’t great either. His 6.88 ERA is accompanied by a 4.57 xERA and a 5.73 FIP. So while his ERA is inflated, he certainly hasn’t pitched well regardless.

While the absence of Alex Bregman tonight is a downgrade for the Red Sox, it’s worth noting that Littell hasn’t faced a tough schedule so far. All of this offense against him has come from the Angels (who hit four home runs), Rangers, and Rockies.

MJ Melendez over 0.5 H/R/RBI -110

We simply need Melendez to collect a single hit, run or RBI tonight to hit this bet.

The Yankees will start Clarke Schmidt, who’s making his season debut. Overall, he was excellent last season, throwing 85.1 innings with a 2.85 ERA, a 3.78 xERA, and a 3.58 FIP. His one weakness was pitching at home—specifically against lefties. In that scenario, Schmidt allowed a .352 wOBA, a 5.08 FIP, and a 1.96 HR/9.

Melendez has solid numbers against Schmidt’s two primary pitches: the cutter and the sweeper. Since last year, he’s posted a .316 wOBA with a .268 ISO against the cutter, and a .636 wOBA with a .700 ISO against the sweeper (albeit in a small sample of 15 plate appearances).

Again, we just need one of those three categories to hit, and we’re getting -110 for it

Good luck with these MLB picks for tonight!
