Saturday night, March 1, WBA Lightweight Champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis defends his title against WBA Super Featherweight Champion Lamont Roach. Davis knocked out Frank Martin in the eighth round in June 2024. Although Roach has a loss on his record, he has won six straight fights and knocked out Feargal McCrory in his previous contest.
You can watch the Prelims on DraftKings Network beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET. The main card begins on PBC PPV on Prime Video at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1. Here is my best bet for Saturday’s boxing card headlined by Tank vs. Roach.
Gervonta Davis to Win In Rounds 7-12 (+100)
Davis is 30-0 with 28 knockouts in his career and has finished 20 of his previous 21 opponents. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Davis is a massive -1600 favorite. But since he is still -400 to pick up a victory by knockout, let’s dive deeper.
Five of Davis’ last six knockouts have come in rounds 7-12. Also, in his last eight bouts, only two have ended before the seventh round. As dominant as Davis has been, he likes to feel out his opponent throughout the first half of the fight before pressuring and trying to find the kill shot.
Although Roach is moving up a weight class, he has physical advantages. Roach is taller (5’7″ vs. 5’5.5′) while having a more significant standing reach (68″ vs. 67″). Davis landed 53 percent of his power punches against Martin. In that bout, Martin threw 88 more punches than Tank did. Tank is a selective puncher and uses his calm style to find his opponent’s weaknesses.
Getting Davis to win in rounds 7-12 at +100 on DraftKings Sportsbook is an excellent play, considering his recent success in the later parts of fights.
