The NBA play-in tournament will continue on Wednesday with the 7-8 game in the Eastern Conference as the Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Miami Heat. The winner will advance to the East playoff bracket to face the New York Knicks as the No. 7 seed, while the loser will face the the 9-10 winner for the No. 8 seed on Friday.
This is Miami’s second straight trip to the play-in tournament as it went 1-1 in these games in 2023. In last year’s 7-8 game, the Heat fell in a 116-105 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. A few days later, the team saved its season by winning a 102-91 slugfest against the Chicago Bulls to secure the No. 8 seed in the East.
Of course, Miami would then go on a heater over the next two months. The Heat knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics to win the East, becoming the first play-in team in NBA history to reach the NBA Finals. They’d end up falling to the Denver Nuggets in five games in the Finals.
