Wednesday’s WNBA slate features three compelling matchups, with many betting options on DraftKings Sportsbook to consider.
Headlined by A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces taking on Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever, this slate promises some exciting basketball with some of the WNBA’s top talent. While Wilson remains the heavy MVP favorite, both players could very well end up on the All-WNBA First-Team.
The Washington Mystics aim to continue their road success against a playoff-hungry Chicago Sky trying to stay afloat without Angel Reese, who underwent season-ending wrist surgery. Lastly, the Los Angeles Sparks host the Seattle Storm, where Skylar Diggins-Smith will continue her record-breaking season in LA to face a determined Sparks team looking to close strong.
Let’s look below at my top bets for Wednesday’s WNBA betting card with analysis based on recent trends and player strength.
Las Vegas Aces at Indiana Fever
A’ja Wilson Over 26.5 Points
It doesn’t matter the opponent, A’ja Wilson poses major matchup problems for anyone at 6-foot-5 with a combination of size and athleticism paired with an all-around skillset inside the arc.
Indiana has struggled against Wilson this season, giving up an average of 28.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals. She manages to fill up the box score anytime she steps on the court.
Wilson is at -120 on DraftKings Sportsbook to score over 26.5 points in this game. Considering she’s averaging 27.3 points on the season entering this matchup, Wilson just has to do what she regularly does to hit the over.
Aces -4
While the Aces have a better record overall, the Fever have played some of the best basketball in the WNBA since returning from the Olympic break. Indiana has gone 8-2 during this span while Las Vegas holds a 6-5 record within the same stretch. The separator for Indiana has been a high-powered offense but one of the lesser defenses.
With Wilson returning from a one-game injury absence, the Aces have the necessary firepower available to cause Indiana problems. Las Vegas has a -4 spread at -105 on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a strong outlook to cover.
While Wilson has been phenomenal this season in this matchup, Kelsey Plum has been dominant —averaging 27.0 points and 6.0 assists and making 4.5 three-pointers converted at a 42.9% clip. Jackie Young also averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 assists. If Las Vegas’ backcourt continues to execute at a high level, it’ll be challenging for the Fever.
Caitiln Clark Triple-Double
If you believe Clark is set to do it against the Aces, there is a player combo prop on DraftKings Sportsbook to consider. She’s at +1100 to record a triple-double against Las Vegas after recently recording her second triple-double of the season last week. She totaled 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against the Sparks.
While Clark undoubtedly deserves a lot of credit for the historic production she’s provided the Fever this season, her recent triple-double did come by pulling down a very late rebound before the game ended. Basically, it was very close to not happening. Against a much better Aces team, the risk is certainly something to weigh.
Washington Mystics at Chicago Sky
Mystics +1
The Mystics are in a strong position to cover the +1 spread they face on DraftKings Sportsbook against the Chicago Sky. Despite Chicago’s recent back-to-back victories, the Mystics have been solid on the road, winning four consecutive games away from Capital One Arena. Washington’s defense has been key lately, holding five of its last seven opponents to fewer than 80 points. The Mystics also scored 90 points in each of their last two road victories.
Chicago is still in the playoff hunt but lost Angel Reese to a season-ending wrist injury. While the Sky have recently found success, including a 92-77 win over Dallas on Sunday, they have struggled against Washington this season, failing to score more than 81 points in their three meetings. The circumstances appear to be in Washington’s favor for this matchup.
Seattle Storm at LA Sparks
Sparks +13
While the Los Angeles Sparks have had a tough season, they have a favorable outlook to cover the +13 spread they have on DraftKings Sportsbook against the Seattle Storm. The Storm, despite Skylar Diggins-Smith’s stellar year as their new single-season assist leader, have been inconsistent lately, winning just four of their last 10 games. This leaves an opening for the Sparks to keep the game tighter than the odds suggest.
Azura Stevens, fresh off a career-high 17 rebounds in her last performance against the Connecticut Sun, can be a crucial factor in controlling the paint and disrupting Seattle’s flow. Alongside standout rookie Rickea Jackson, who led the Sparks with 16 points against the Sun, Los Angeles has the pieces to keep this matchup closer.
