The WNBA features a three-game slate for Tuesday, beginning with the Minnesota Lynx facing the Atlanta Dream. Just a half hour later, the New York Liberty take on the Dallas Wings, with the Connecticut Sun and LA Sparks wrapping up the night.
The matchup involving the Sun and Sparks does not have betting options on DraftKings Sportsbook, yet there are still plenty of options to consider involving the other two games.
Let’s look below at my top bets for Tuesday’s WNBA betting card with analysis based on recent trends and player strength.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Atlanta Dream
Napheesa Collier Under 20.5 Points
It’s been a tough recent stretch for Napheesa Collier in the scoring department, with only one game reaching the 20-point threshold over her previous five performances. With an over/under set at 20.5 points for Collier against the Dream, she’s at -110 on DraftKings Sportsbook to finish under.
Collier has played at a high level despite her not scoring at an ultra high volume. She was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday after averaging 22.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. It’s been methodical for her playing within the flow on a talented team that can pack a balanced scoring punch.
Since the WNBA’s return from the Olympic break, her best performances have come against struggling defensive squads like the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces. Against the Atlanta Dream, this trend could continue. While it’s certainly possible this changes against the Dream, it’s a trend worth monitoring.
Lynx -5
It’s been a great season for the Lynx that’s only gotten better since returning from the break. With a 9-1 record during this span, no team has been better. If you expect this to continue, you can get Minnesota covering a five-point spread at -112 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Minnesota created separation from the rest of the league by taking care of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Friday, as both teams entered the matchup with a 7-1 record since the break.
During this span, the Lynx have posted an impressive 10.2 net rating and this should only continue against the Dream — a team with a losing record (5-6) in this same stretch. In three matchups this season, Minnesota has produced an impressive 14.4 net rating against Atlanta, with elite defense setting the tone.
New York Liberty vs. Dallas Wings
Liberty +10
It’s worth noting, the Liberty did recently have a road letdown loss against the Sparks, losing 94-88 on August 28. New York entered the game favored by double figures, but then quickly flopped. New York continues to play great basketball with a league-best 12.1 net rating since returning from the Olympic break.
Amid a three-game winning streak, the Liberty are favored to defeat the Wings by 10 points on DraftKings Sportsbook. Putting aside the recent loss against the Sparks, New York has managed to go 8-2 after the break — including two wins against Dallas. With a focus on good habits ahead of the postseason, the Liberty will look to take care of business on the road with Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart setting the tone.
The Wings have already been eliminated from postseason contention and will set their sights on a new grand prize: Being the team best-positioned to land Paige Bueckers. Aside from playing for pride, it’s always worth factoring in what an organization has to gain from any given game. For the Wings, there’s more value in losing.
Breanna Stewart 25+ Points
This one comes with risk considering Stewart has averaged only 22.5 points per game against the Wings this season. However, those performances occurred with Ionescu sidelined and came with her shooting just 30.0% both from the floor and on three-pointers. If you think she’s due to bounce back with a big scoring night, you can get her scoring 25 or more points at +165 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Ionescu being in the lineup will make the game easier for Stewart, but might result in some reduction in shot attempts. Regardless, Stewart managed to get to the free throw line for 11 attempts per game in those two previous matchups against Dallas, which suggests she can get what she wants against this defense. That’s not surprising since the Wings’ unit is by far the worst in the league from a statistical standpoint.
