As is the case every Thursday, a short slate will be had this evening. Only five games are scheduled after 6:40 p.m. ET. I’ll give you some of my favorite baseball best bets for tonight that you can tail on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
The Pick: Phillies moneyline -105

The Braves lineup has become unrecognizable. A barrage of injuries has forced them to go out and get bench players and insert them into the starting lineup. When it get released tonight, we could see guys like Whit Merrifield, Ramon Laureano and Gio Urshela all starting. It puts the Braves offense at a huge disadvantage facing Cristopher Sanchez tonight. He’s been shaky at times but this is a B squad lineup he’ll be facing. He enters this game with a 3.46 ERA, a 3.65 xERA and a 2.81 FIP. Sanchez doesn’t induce a lot of strikeouts but he gets plenty of contact for outs, which is what I’d expect for tonight.

For the Phillies, they’ll see Spencer Schwellenbach on the hill for the Braves. He’s been good overall but his numbers at home are the weakest of the bunch. Through 35 innings he has a 4.11 ERA with a .391 wOBA and eight of the 10 home runs he’s allowed. With the Braves lack of pop and overall good hitters in the lineup, I’m siding with the Phillies at close to even money.

Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles
The Pick: Astros team total over 3.5 runs -115

It’s been a really rough second-half for Corbin Burnes. Through 35 innings he’s allowed 22 runs on 33 hits, including 12 extra base hits. Alot of the damage has come over his last three starts, where the Red Sox, Rays and Guardians scored 15 runs through 15 innings. It’s hard to pin point what the issue is but regardless, teams are hitting him hard. The last time Burnes faced the Astros in June, Burnes was tagged for four runs through seven innings of work. We’d love a carbon copy of that games, as it would put the Astros team total over 3.5 runs.

Even if the Astros don’t get all the runs off Burnes, the bullpen will present opportunities as well. As with Burnes, the bullpen is also in the midst of a horrible second-half. The O’s relievers have combined for a horrific 5.30 ERA with a 4.50 FIP. They’ve allowed the fifth-most earned runs and the fourth-most home runs in the league since baseball began again after the All-Star break. With the way the Astros are swinging the bats lately, I love that we’re getting them at 3.5 runs for tonight.
