Update: Pacheco has officially been ruled out with a concussion. His status for Week 17 against the Bengals is now in doubt. If he’s unable to play, Edwards-Helaire likely becomes the lead running back for Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco is being evaluated for a head injury after his helmet was ripped off and his head hit someone’s leg on the tackle. Pacheco came out of the game and is now back in the locker room being looked at further. The Chiefs have looked out of sorts in general this Christmas Day, falling behind to the Las Vegas Raiders 20-7 as of this writing.

Pacheco does have Kansas City’s lone touchdown in this game, but the running back hasn’t done much else. He’s got 26 yards on 11 carries, and has four catches for zero yards due to most of them being blown up screen plays. The Raiders have been able to generate a ton of pressure and have two defensive touchdowns to completely shock this offense.

With Pacheco currently out, look for Clyde Edwards-Helaire to operate as the team’s lead back. Jerick McKinnon went on injured reserve, so Edwards-Helaire should get most of the snaps going forward in this game. The Chiefs are also going to need to throw more to get back in this game, which means limited work for Pacheco if he does indeed return.
