The Summit League standings look quite different than in past seasons with the UMKC Kangaroos looking for a road win on Sunday against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles to gain a share of second place in the conference standings.

Much of UMKC’s success has come from the glass, entering the weekend ranked 74th in the nation in rebound rate. Now, the Kangaroos face a Golden Eagles team that ranks 315th in defensive rebound rate, allowing opponents to grab a rebound on 30.5% of their missed shots.
For what the Golden Eagles lack on the boards, they attempt to make up for along the perimeter, making 36.3% of their 3-point shots, which ranks 56th. They also commit a turnover on just 14% of their possessions, good for 24th in the nation.
While UMKC ranks 117th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage, it has not been the same on the road with its opponents shooting just 30.4% from 3-point range at home compared to 34.2% on the road.
The Kangaroos are allowing 14.3 points more per 100 possessions in road games than at home but still rank 197th in points allowed on a per-possession basis. Oral Roberts ranks 329th in that category while allowing opponents to shoot 35.9% from 3-point range, which is good for 306th in the nation.
It has been a struggle for Oral Roberts to get to the free throw line this season, ranking 332nd in the nation in free throw attempts per offensive play. However, as a team, they’ve shot 75.3% at the free throw line and 76.9% at home, which ranks 48th in home free throw shooting percentage.
Fortunately for Oral Roberts, UMKC allows its opponents to make over 27.6 free throws per 100 possessions in road games, which is the fifth-highest made free throw per possession rate in the nation.
Oral Roberts has allowed at least 70 points in 22 of its last 23 games against Division I competition and UMKC’s defense struggling on h, Sunday’s showdown will feature plenty of points.
