SF/PF Georges Niang, Golden State Warriors vs. ORL ($4,400)
The Warriors could be without Draymond Green (elbow) tonight, leaving a massive void in their front court. With or without the power forward, there will be ample minutes this evening for Golden State’s second unit. One name that has taken advantage of this opportunity is Georges Niang. Through nine games, the veteran is averaging 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists (15.7 FPTS). He’s managed to surpass 20.0+ fantasy points in three of his previous four contests as well.
Niang, a career 39.7% three-point shooter, is only connecting on 30.6% of his shots from long distance. It’s likely just a matter of time until he regains his shooting stroke. Saturday presents a golden opportunity against a suddenly vulnerable Orlando defense. The Magic are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to power forwards. To boot, opponents are knocking down 36.7% of their three-point attempts; that’s eighth-worst in the NBA. Niang is in a solid spot to contribute, whether it’s as a starter or off of the bench.
SF/PF Mario Hezonja, Cleveland Cavaliers vs. NYK ($4,300)
The new-look Cavaliers have gotten quite the boost from Mario Hezonja. Coming back to the States after an extended stay in Europe, the forward has been terrific so far for Cleveland. Over nine appearances, he’s notched 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game (22.2 FPTS). The Croatian has been in stellar form as of late, recording at least 23.5 fantasy points in each of his previous five contests.
This will be the second leg of a back-to-back for the Cavs. As a result, head coach Kenny Atkinson might opt to limit minutes for some of his best players. Hezonja posted a double-double last night vs. Philadelphia, racking up 15 points and ten rebounds (32 FPTS). Now, he faces a Knicks squad giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing small forwards. Teams are taking 39.5 three-point attempts per game vs. New York, ninth-most in the association. Hezonja, never shy to take a shot from deep, is poised for another productive outing.
SF/PF Kenrich Williams, Oklahoma City Thunder vs. WAS ($4,200)
It’s no secret that the Thunder are hurting. Oklahoma City is without several key contributors, including Chet Holmgren (knee) and Jalen Williams (leg). The former’s absence places added pressure on the team’s remaining front court depth. That includes Kenrich Williams, a steady presence off the bench for OKC. This season, the ninth-year pro has only accounted for 6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists (13.9 FPTS).
With that being said, Williams has seen his role increase out of necessity in recent weeks. The forward has logged at least 20 minutes in four of his last five appearances. If there was ever a game to deliver a solid fantasy basketball stat line, it’s on Saturday. The Wizards have been disappointing defensively, surrendering the third-most fantasy points to opposing power forwards. Even worse, their best defender is likely out tonight in Anthony Davis (ankle). Williams, a crafty veteran, offers decent upside given his modest price tag.
