Prediction, pick for Joshua Buatsi vs. Willy Hutchinson 2

Willy Hutchinson and Joshua Buatsi are facing off in the Main Event of today’s Queensberry Promotions card for the Vacant WBC Light Heavyweight Championship. Willy Hutchinson by Decision or Technical Decision (+160)

This is a fascinating fight because it is a rematch of an extremely close bout. In September 2024, Buatsi beat Hutchinson by split decision (115-110, 112-113, 117-108). In their first bout, Buatsi landed 55 more total punches while having the edge in jabs (73-52) and power punches (191-157). Although it was a split decision, Buatsi landed more total punches in 11 of the 12 rounds. Since their first fight, Buatsi is 1-1, while Hutchinson is 2-0. 

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Hutchinson is a -140 favorite while Buatsi is a +110 underdog in this bout. The over/under is set at 10.5 rounds, with the over at -280 and the under at +200. Hutchinson is +160 to win by decision, while Buatsi is +240 to win on the judges’ scorecards. 

Buatsi has had a rough go lately, as his previous three fights have ended in a split-decision win, a unanimous-decision loss, and a majority-decision win.  Meanwhile, Hutchinson has scored a knockout and unanimous decision since first facing Buatsi. Hutchinson is currently on the better stretch and should enter this bout hungrier to avenge his first loss to Buatsi. Although Hutchinson has 14 career knockouts, two of his last three wins have come by decision. I’m taking Hutchinson to win by decision at +160, as I don’t see either fighter being finished. If Hutchinson comes out aggressive as he did in his previous bout, he has the skills to get the best of Buatsi if he can display elite defense.
