Finding the right fantasy football WR sleepers can make a difference in Week 8, especially for managers dealing with injuries, bye weeks, difficult matchups or tough start-sit decisions. Aside from the obvious weekly starters, several wide receivers could be positioned for increased opportunities this week.
Each week, we highlight five wide receivers who have a path to outperform expectations because of their role, matchup, recent usage or opportunities in their offense. These picks can help season-long fantasy football managers looking for a sleeper or FLEX option, while DraftKings salaries are included for players who are also in good spots to provide DFS value.
Best Fantasy Football WR Sleepers for Week 8
Here are five fantasy football WR sleepers to consider for Week 8. Analysis for each wide receiver is below.
- Ja’Kobi Lane, Baltimore Ravens ($3,400)
- Efton Chism III, New England Patriots ($3,400)
- Marvin Mims Jr., Denver Broncos ($3,400)
- Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars ($3,100)
- Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee Titans ($3,000)
Ja’Kobi Lane, Baltimore Ravens ($3,400)
Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: The Ravens’ third-round pick missed four weeks with a wrist issue and returned in Week 6. He had four catches for 40 yards against the Browns in his first game back, and then three catches for 25 yards in Week 7. With Lamar Jackson ($6,800) returning, the Ravens offense will have a higher ceiling overall in what has the potential to be a high-scoring contest. While his role is still developing, Lane has a chance to be a great value in this matchup against the Bills, who have allowed the most FPTS to WRs this season.
Efton Chism III, New England Patriots ($3,400)
Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: The Patriots won’t have Romeo Doubs (shoulder), Mack Hollins (calf) or A.J. Brown (ankle/knee), leaving DeMario Douglas ($4,400), Kyle Williams ($3,300) and Chism as the top options at receiver. Chism has 12.2 and 10.9 FPTS in two games against the Bills and Raiders while Brown was out earlier this year, including his game-winning touchdown against the Bills. He caught his only target last week for 16 yards, but he should get a lot more work with Brown out this week.
Marvin Mims Jr., Denver Broncos ($3,400)
Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: This week, the Broncos remain without Pat Bryant (ankle, IR) and could be without Jaylen Waddle ($5,400; chest, questionable) as well for their divisional matchup against the Chiefs. Mims has two catches in each of the last three weeks and always brings big-play potential both as a receiver and in creative ways as a gadget option.
Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars ($3,100)
Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: The Jags come back from their Week 7 bye against the Colts, and Hunter could be asked to step into a bigger role in the offense. Jakobi Meyers ($4,500; hamstring/ankle) is questionable but didn’t practice Friday, which isn’t a good sign even though it’s not a guarantee. After only playing a minimal role in the offense in the first five weeks of the season, Hunter had his most involved offensive game in Week 6 against the Texans, catching all four of his targets for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee Titans ($3,000)
Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: For the Titans, rookie Carnell Tate (shoulder) is out this week and Calvin Ridley ($3,700; hip) is questionable after missing last week. In his absence, Ayomanor had a season-high seven targets and caught three passes for 44 yards. Ayomanor has 10 catches for 177 yards and a touchdown this year, and if he gets more work on Sunday against an inconsistent Bengals secondary, he could be a great value at this minimum salary.
