Giants vs. Texans NFL Player Prop Bets for Week 7

Updated:

By: Caleb Wilfinger

Sunday’s loaded NFL Week 7 slate features a fascinating matchup between the New York Giants and Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. ET.

The Giants (3–2-1) are still atop the NFC East following last week’s 34-27 home loss to the New Orleans Saints. On the other side, the Texans (2-4) have won two consecutive games following an 0-4 start. Now, Houston looks to build on that momentum with a third straight victory as it looks to get back into the AFC playoff picture.

The Texans are 10-point home favorites with the game total set at 42.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Let’s dive into the top player prop bets for Sunday’s clash between the Giants and Texans.

Giants vs. Texans NFL Player Prop Bets

Isaiah Likely over 5.5 receptions (+105)

One of the more notable developments from the Giants offense this season has been the emergence of Isaiah Likely as one of the better tight ends in football. After being in the shadow of Mark Andrews for most of his career in Baltimore, Likely is putting together the best season of his career in his fifth year in the NFL. Likely has racked up 39 receptions and 383 yards in six games this season, to go along with five touchdowns. The Coastal Carolina product has thrived no matter who plays quarterback, as he’s been a major focal point in the offense with both Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston under center.

A week ago, Winston was replaced by J.J. McCarthy and the young quarterback appeared to immediately make a difference for the Giants offense. McCarthy certainly surprised the Saints with his ability to push the ball downfield, but what I noticed most was his immediate connection with Likely as a security blanket underneath. Likely finished with six receptions a week ago, which marked the third straight game where he tallied at least six catches.

With 60 targets over the first six games (an average of 10 targets per game), Likely has been an essential component of the Giants offense. I see no reason for that to change in a game against a Texans defense that is sure to put pressure on McCarthy and force him to get the ball out quickly. Likely should be available for plenty of quick receptions, so I’ll gladly take the plus-money odds with the Giants tight end to record 6+ catches on Sunday.

Nico Collins over 4.5 receptions (-130)

For the second straight season, the Texans got off to a very slow start, but some of that was due to the injuries that Houston suffered on both sides of the ball. One such injury was to Nico Collins, the Texans top wide receiver and one of the best at his position across the NFL. In his absence, Houston lost both of its games and looked to be anemic offensively. Since his return against the Cowboys on October 4, the Texans offense looks like a completely different unit.

Collins appears to be fully healthy and his 20 targets over the past three weeks speaks to the confidence that C.J. Stroud has in him. Speaking of Stroud, the young quarterback is playing some of the best football of his career this season, and Collins has been a beneficiary of Stroud’s improvement. The Michigan product has racked up 22 receptions in four games, including 15 receptions on 20 targets since returning from injury earlier this month. The Giants secondary is dealing with some injuries on the outside, making this a very favorable matchup for Collins. With that in mind, this number feels a bit cheap for the Texans top target.
