Brooklyn Nets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction, Pick for Saturday 10/24/26

A 29-point 76ers comeback marred Cleveland’s home opener earlier this week. The Cavaliers will attempt to bounce back on Saturday, taking the court against the rebuilding Nets. Brooklyn also went winless during its season debut, a 110-103 defeat vs. Charlotte. Which of these Eastern Conference clubs will pick up its first win tonight?

The Cavaliers enter today’s matchup as 11.5-point favorites, with the total set at 228.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook. Below is my full preview, prediction and best bet for Saturday’s Brooklyn vs. Cleveland contest.

Nets vs. Cavaliers prediction, preview

As previously mentioned, it’s unlikely the Nets contend for anything meaningful this season. Still, that’s not to say this side is without its bright spots. Offseason pickup Julius Randle and veteran Michael Porter Jr. are both former All-Stars; either player can go off on any given night. Elsewhere on the roster, youngsters Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. possess notable upside. Still, putting up buckets could be a challenge for this crew. Brooklyn averaged an NBA-worst 105.9 points per game last season, all while operating at the association’s sixth-slowest pace (97.1). Wednesday’s showing against the Hornets doesn’t inspire much confidence.

A particular area of weakness for the Nets was on the glass. Frequent games missed for Nic Claxton didn’t help in that regard. However, the center is now a member of the Bulls. In his place, 6’10” Day’Ron Sharpe fills the void down low. The 24-year-old has the potential to be a solid starter at the position, but he does make this group shorter. That’s not ideal when facing some of the NBA’s tallest teams. Cleveland would be considered one of those squads, rostering the front court duo of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. As a unit, the Cavaliers delivered the NBA’s eighth-best rebounding rate last season (50.7%). In comparison, Brooklyn ranked 27th in that category (47.4%).

It’s not as if the Cavs need a dominant showing on the glass, although it would help. This offense revolves around the back court tandem of Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. The former remains one of the association’s elite scorers, averaging 27.9 points per game on 48.3% shooting last season. The latter is an upper echelon distributor, dishing out 8.0 assists per game during the 2025-26 campaign. Cleveland had the NBA’s sixth-best offensive rating last year, a number that could go up with a full season of Harden in town.

With that being said, this defense needed to improve following a postseason sweep vs. New York. Cleveland’s front office was aggressive, trading for Peyton Watson. The versatile wing averaged 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks per game last season with the Nuggets. His presence also lightens the load on Mitchell and Harden, neither of whom should be guarding elite scorers. The bench isn’t particularly deep, but offseason addition Mario Hezonja is intriguing. The former lottery pick hasn’t played in the NBA since 2020. However, he tallied ten points, two steals and a block on Thursday in Philadelphia.

Best Bet: Cavaliers -6.5 1st Half (-115)

If their collapse vs. the Sixers proves anything, it’s that the Cavaliers can’t be trusted with a big lead. Even if this group comes out firing, there’s a decent chance Brooklyn hangs around tonight. Regardless, it takes a lot to fade a team this talented at home. Cleveland’s clear advantage on the boards should create several second chance opportunities as well.
