Germie Bernard Start or Sit Advice for Week 7
With Michael Pittman (foot) on IR and sidelined for the last two games, Bernard ($6,800 for Showdown) has taken full advantage of an expanded role. First, the rookie scored 14.4 FPTS vs. the Colts and then, he went off for 25.7 FPTS vs. the Buccaneers.
Bernard has been the No. 9 scoring receiver for fantasy football over the last two weeks and he should continue to thrive this Sunday vs. the Saints with Pittman remaining out.
Bernard’s role has been tremendous with Pittman sidelined, with the former leading the Steelers with a 25% target share while running a route on 79% of his team’s dropbacks the last two weeks. Bernard has seen four redzone targets and he is averaging 2.4 YPRR in these games.
Bernard is a promising rookie out of Alabama whom the Steelers selected in the second round. The 22-year-old finished seventh in total score among receivers at the combine and he appears to already have Aaron Rodgers’ ($5,300) trust, after the former MVP peppered Bernard with 12 targets in this past Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay.
Up next, Bernard is facing the Saints in France this Sunday morning. New Orleans is giving up the eight-most yards per pass (7.2) and this club ranks first in pace this season. This is an awesome matchup for Bernard and he is an outstanding WR3/FLEX play for season-long leagues. Bernard also only costs $6,800 for DraftKings’ Showdown slate for this matchup and he is a must-play at that affordable salary.
