Cowboys vs. Packers NFL DFS Value Picks for Sunday Night Football

Updated:

By: Stan Son

After opening the season with a 28-20 loss to the Giants in New York, the Dallas Cowboys have alternated wins and losses and currently sit at 2-3. The offense scored over 30 points in the meat of the schedule while the bread consisted of 20 and 16 points.

The offense has been good, with sprinkles of inconsistency. The Cowboys rank fifth in pass attempts, fifth in yards, 11th in passing touchdowns and 11th in net yards per attempt. Dak Prescott has completed 67.2% of his 192 attempts for 1,381 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. CeeDee Lamb leads the team with 39 receptions on 51 targets for 507 yards and four touchdowns. George Pickens has hauled in 27 of 41 targets for 355 yards and a touchdown.

Per PFF, the offensive line is ranked eighth and just got left guard Tyler Smith back.

The rushing attack has been bad, ranking 30th in yards and averaging 3.8 yards per carry. Javonte Williams has scored six touchdowns, though, and the seven total rushing touchdowns by the Cowboys rank seventh in the NFL.

Defensively is where most of the issues for Dallas situate. The Cowboys are 19th in pressure rate and five sacks are the second-fewest. The two total turnovers are tied for the least in the NFL. The -71.66 expected points by the pass defense are the third-worst, the 72.1% completion percentage allowed is the third-highest, the 120.5 passer rating is the highest and the unit has yet to intercept a pass.

The rush defense is just as bad, allowing 5.1 yards per carry and 168.4 yards per game. The -6.95 expected points are the eighth-worst, the 842 rushing yards allowed are the most and the six rushing touchdowns are tied for the fourth-most.

Green Bay started the season 2-2 and scored 22, 20, 14 and 17 points. Jordan Love passed for over 300 yards twice while he was held to fewer than 200 yards the other two games. Last week, Love exploded for 367 yards passing while the Packers scored a season-high 31 points.

Love and the Packers offense are feeling good and must be looking forward to this plum matchup against the Cowboys D-less fence.

The rushing attack has been almost non-existent for Green Bay. MarShawn Lloyd hasn’t rushed for more than 37 yards in any contest and is averaging a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. He did score two touchdowns last week, though. The main issue is the offensive line, which is ranked 31st by PFF. It’s the classic stoppable force vs. moveable object matchup this week.

Defensively, Green Bay is middle-of-the-pack in both blitz and pressure rate. The 14 sacks are tied for fifth-most while the nine total turnovers are third-most. The -6.03 expected points from the pass defense are 10th-best while the 905 passing yards allowed are sixth-fewest. The seven interceptions are tied for the league lead while the 76.8 passer rating is third-lowest.

The run defense is almost as bad as the Cowboys. The unit has allowed eight rushing touchdowns, the second-most, but the total yardage (638) and yards per carry (4.1) are much lower. The -5.48 expected points are right above Dallas’ -6.95.

Looking at the odds for Sunday Night Football, the Packers are 1.5-point home favorites with -120 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Cowboys are +100 underdogs, with the game total set at O/U 53.5 points.

NFL DFS Value Picks for Cowboys vs. Packers Week 6

WR Ryan Flournoy, Dallas Cowboys ($4,400)

Flournoy scored a season-high 12 FPTS last week, but CeeDee Lamb left that game early. That said, he’s put up at least 4 FPTS in the other four games and is playing around 70% of the snaps on a weekly basis. He also has five red zone looks on the season.

RB Pierre Strong Jr., Green Bay Packers ($3,000)

Strong made his season debut last week with Chris Brooks going on injured reserve. He only rushed five times for seven yards, but caught three of four targets for 11 yards and one red zone look. Strong looks to be the passing-down back and there will likely be plenty of dropbacks in this one.

TE Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys ($5,600)

The matchup isn’t great, as Green Bay has been good at defending tight ends this season. That said, Ferguson plays 70 to 80% of the snaps and has received at least four targets in four straight games. Last week, he garnered a season-high six targets. He has four red zone looks on the season.

More on this game

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
