Only two ranked vs. ranked games are on tap for Week 6’s college football slate. Although there’s less marquee matchups than usual, Saturday presents a golden opportunity for bettors. With heavy favorites taking the field across the country, there’s never been more options for those in search of a sneaky underdog. In a sport as chaotic as this one, multiple would-be contenders could come crashing down to Earth this weekend.
Let’s break down two plus money picks on DraftKings Sportsbook that could pull off an upset on Saturday.
Best CFB Upset Picks for Week 6
North Carolina ML (+154) at Pittsburgh
The Tar Heels have become a college football punchline. To the casual observer, the once-great Bill Belichick is out of touch as the program’s head coach. An inconsistent, low-scoring roster doesn’t inspire much confidence either. Those opinions aren’t necessarily inaccurate. Things have not gone according to plan in Chapel Hill over the past two years. Still, it’s impossible to deny that North Carolina looks like an improved team in 2026. Granted, the program has suffered two straight defeats. However, the team nearly took down Clemson on the road and were within one point of #3 Notre Dame during the third quarter last weekend. Moral victories don’t mean much, but it’s a step in the right direction.
If there was ever a time for the Heels to deliver a signature win, it’s on Saturday. #25 Pittsburgh comes into this one with mixed emotions. A dramatic 35-33 win over Virginia Tech boosted the program into the ACC’s upper echelon. Unfortunately, it might have been a pyrrhic victory. Starting quarterback Mason Heintschel suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Blacksburg. Now, it’ll be up to backup Holden Geriner under center. It’s not as if the Panthers have faced many elite defenses so far. Victories over Syracuse, Bucknell and Miami OH have done most of the heavy lifting in terms of offensive production. Despite scoring 35 points vs. VT, the team only notched 295 total yards. If not for four turnovers and a missed field goal from the Hokies, Pitt likely loses.
If there’s one thing that remains true about Belichick, he knows how to coach a defense. North Carolina is giving up just 200.5 passing yards per game to opponents. Even more impressive, the program has only allowed four rushing touchdowns. UNC’s offense isn’t anything special, but it plays a clean brand of football. The Tar Heels lead all of college football in fewest penalty yards against. Factor in a solid running game (4.6 YPC), and there’s plenty of reason to like North Carolina at plus money.
UMass ML (+150) vs. Miami OH
What a turnaround for UMass this season. After going winless in 2025, the Minutemen are on track for their first-ever bowl appearance. Ever since their Week 1 upset over Rutgers, Joe Harasymiak’s crew has put the nation on notice. With that being said, a blowout loss last weekend vs. Eastern Michigan has dampened some of the excitement in Amherst. Saturday offers up another chance at picking up a home win. Coming into town is Miami OH, another program looking to assert itself in the Mid-American Conference.
The RedHawks, sitting at 2-3, aren’t world beaters by any means. To be fair, two of their losses have come against Power 4 opponents Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Chuck Martin’s squad often finds itself in shootouts. Miami OH is averaging 271.0 passing yards per game, second in the MAC,. That shouldn’t scare the Minutemen, who have done a solid job in the secondary. They’re only giving up 6.3 yards per pass attempt, the second-lowest mark in the conference. To boot, Harasymiak’s defense has already snagged six interceptions.
On the other side of the ball, William “Pop” Watson has helped turn this offense into something special. The quarterback has thrown for 820 yards, ran for 167 more, and racked up 11 total touchdowns. Running backs Curtis Kimmons IV and Elijah Faulkner have combined for 508 rushing yards and five TDs as well. Miami OH has done a solid job against the run, allowing just 4.0 yards per carry. The same can’t be said for their work through the air. The RedHawks have allowed a whopping 290.0 passing yards per game to opponents, by far the worst mark in the MAC. Watson, who leads the conference with a 74.0% completion percentage, has enough arm talent to exploit this shaky secondary.
