After The Drama outperformed its budget and The Odyssey broke plenty of box office records, the year of Robert Pattinson lives on. Primetime hit theaters on September 25, marking one of A24’s most anticipated releases of 2026. So how much business did the exploration of Chris Hansen and To Catch a Predator reel in over its first three days on the big screen?
Here is a breakdown of how Primetime performed at the box office this past weekend:
Primetime Box Office
Primetime made an estimated $19.2 million at the box office between September 25 and September 27. While that pales in comparison to Pattinson’s last movie – The Odyssey, which opened to $123.5 million this summer – it is a tick above his more comparable outing in The Drama, which debuted to $14.4 million back in April. Pattinson’s previous two films were Die My Love and Mickey 17, which opened to $2.6 million and $19.0 million in 2025, respectively. Primetime slots in as the No. 9 opener of Pattinson’s career, although it will almost certainly move down a spot when Dune: Part Three comes out in December. Still, it only trails The Odyssey when excluding franchise fare like Twilight, The Batman and Harry Potter.
According to Deadline, Primetime made $2.7 million in domestic Thursday night previews. That cash is technically counted as part of the film’s $8.5 Friday gross. It proceeded to make $6.1 million on Saturday and $4.6 million on Sunday. Primetime posted the third-largest domestic opening weekend of all time by an A24 film, only behind Backrooms‘ $81.5 million and Civil War‘s $25.5 million.
Looking beyond the United States and Canada, there have yet to be any overseas numbers reported for Primetime. The Drama reached $28.0 million globally through its first weekend, for context, while Mickey 17 rode a massive debut in South Korea to a $53.3 million opening.
